I don't need the "community" to speak.

The truth is self evident, to me... as you well know. :ahand :bolt:

You're right on that. You're the only one seeing this "truth."   :rofl

Unfortunately, this is true, on occasion... but in time you'll figure it out as well. :aok

Not me mate, this is all I see:-

"You are ignoring this user. Show me the post".

Using analogies... I'd opine you're closer to the little boy who cried wolf as opposed to being a Da Vinci.

Who's trolling me?   :headscratch:

He's boxed-in in his box.

And besides I got him to  :bhead   That's full of winsauce right there. Acknowledge!  :furious

Do I?

Mr Coombz have you been reporting posts which violate the rules?  :old:

Bliss. Of course you get a degree of seepage when people quote, but I've learned two things from caring for Tiny Shida: not all nappies (diapers) are able to 100% contain the 'product', and secondly, once you've seen a few 'products' you've basically seen them all  :rofl

Grassing someone up in real life, or running to the moderators because you can't deal with what someone on the internet is saying to you, are both things that my personal philosophy has no room for :)

For the same reason I spurn the ignore function on this and other forums.

"Snitches get stitches" :D

Both are common and perfectly valid expressions :aok

So you think it is weak of people to report posts that violate the rules, even though you said earlier the moderation only works if people do so?

But you presumably employ some kind of internal 'ignore', what's the difference?

To each his own, personally I prefer to argue with people :) But that's just me.  As I said, the moderation will generally only take place if people report posts...but that was just to explain how it works for the benefit of your thread on the subject.

The forum I have spent most of my time on during my gaming days (10+ years  :uhoh) has no moderation whatsoever, unless someone melts down and starts posting gay porn images or other dodgy stuff. That's the kind of internet environment I am most comfortable with...free speech, for better or worse :]

But you presumably employ some kind of internal 'ignore', what's the difference?

Not really...I generally respond to even the most annoying and impossible to get through to posters, even though I know I'm wasting my time. I know you know that's true, as you have been a part of some of those threads :D

But as I said above, to each his own...I know that your stated reason for ignoring Midway is that you find it hard NOT to engage with him and try to reason logically with him, and as you know he is just an attention seeking troll and you're wasting your time doing so, it annoys you that you get drawn in. So you ignore him. I see that as a sensible move on your part, and not weak.

The next step though, is to stop declaring that you are ignoring him and really and truly *ignore* him :>

Well it did, but then lacking your t'internet experience I had to fully go on the troll ride to understand it. Perhaps I'll get trolled again, who knows, but I will probably reach the realisation that trying to reason with them is pointless much earlier now.

Can I ask you honestly, since you seem to differentiate between internet culture and 'real' culture: which format do you prefer?
