So you think it is weak of people to report posts that violate the rules, even though you said earlier the moderation only works if people do so?

But that's just me. As I said, the moderation will generally only take place if people report posts...but that was just to explain how it works for the benefit of your thread on the subject.
The forum I have spent most of my time on during my gaming days (10+ years
) has no moderation whatsoever, unless someone melts down and starts posting gay porn images or other dodgy stuff. That's the kind of internet environment I am most comfortable with...free speech, for better or worse :]
But you presumably employ some kind of internal 'ignore', what's the difference?
Not really...I generally respond to even the most annoying and impossible to get through to posters, even though I know I'm wasting my time. I know you know that's true, as you have been a part of some of those threads
But as I said above, to each his own...I know that your stated reason for ignoring Midway is that you find it hard NOT to engage with him and try to reason logically with him, and as you know he is just an attention seeking troll and you're wasting your time doing so, it annoys you that you get drawn in. So you ignore him. I see that as a sensible move on your part, and not weak.
The next step though, is to stop declaring that you are ignoring him and really and truly *ignore* him :>
