Separate "Local" Voice Channel For GVs
« on: January 15, 2013, 12:34:35 PM »
This one's probably been posted before, but my "Wish" is for there to
be a separate voice channel for GVs.
Way too often when there's a bunch of 'em doing the usual spawn-camping
routine, they walk all over vox, making it impossible for the fighters/jabos
to coordinate anything.
The channel would be "tuneable" via the pull down menu. ie: country, squad, range, etc...

:airplane: Good idea Odd! Maybe have GV's with only 5 vox channels which they could tune and use, but don't know how you could elminate the range function, unless you could restrict range function to cover only those 5 channels. For squad sorties with GV's and aircraft, tuneing mission in vox box would allow the GV's in the mission to be able to comm with aircraft in the mission.
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

So basically we'll have 3 options:  Both Air/GV (Normal), Air, GV.

 :headscratch:

Eh...I wouldn't say it's a priority, but wouldn't bother me if implemented. :aok

But airpower and ground forces need to communicate. That's why we have the Storch.

If implemented properly, the pilots would have the choice of opting in or opting out
of hearing ground vehicle traffic.

Here is an idea on this, you can only hear who is on local vox by who you can see, planes and gv's. If a plane goes off icon range then you cant hear him. This should eliminate alot of chatter you hear.

Would be pretty much realistic also as it was unusual for quite some time to have reliable ground - air comms.

Great idea, and easy enough to facilitate.

Implement these as tunable channels to the F12 key only. When you tune to Air\Land\Sea it replaces Range All when you speak pressing F12.

Range All mode - Everyone within range tuned and defaults as the primary mode unless unchecked to allow air, land, and sea modes to be tuned to the F12 key for voice. With the default mode box checked the other modes are text only.

Air Range mode - Everyone tuned within range. VOX if in aircraft. Tunable text otherwise.

Land Range mode - Everyone tuned within range. VOX if in GV, storch or feild gun. Tunable text otherwise.

Sea Range mode - Everyone tuned within range. VOX if spawned from a CV in a: gun, airplane, PT, LVT. Tunable text otherwise.

Range All Mute text mode - When tuned mutes VOX for Range All only allowing text. Air, Sea, Land work as text only.

If you think about it, we would have had this years ago if some problems had not been identified. I remember something from Hitech.....The number of vocal "check your 6" on range would drop off dramaticly and players would stop giving verbal checks to situations they are not interested in by their vote of channel mode. Range as a channel would stop being used if at all. My memory could be fuzzy.

Once you begin balkanizing your VOX by specific interests you divide the country community from itself into subcultures with no commonality or reasons to cooperate and feel like they are in the same boat. Who would need a Range All channel? Newbies, and they realy need the whole community conversation on Range to learn from. But, who really cares, they don't pay your $14.95 right? Screw them and everyone who personaly irritates you on range VOX.

We would stop being a community tied together by a common Range conversation with all of it's interesting mutable characters and spontanious conversations to remember. This game is as much about shooting at each other as are the comments from the peanut gallery on how we faired in the process. In some ways this would turn each country into 3 tiny sub versions of Ch200 without the cross country whizzing matches. Green text channel would probably become newbie central if anyone on Land\Sea\Air bothered to tune it anymore.

HOST: Newby Hello is anyone there????????????????????????????????????????
HOST: ANewbie hey some old player told me this is the channel for new players to tune to.
HOST: NuNewbe Yeah some guy told me last week to stay on this channel.
HOST: 1798357231 some of the players just text rtFm yourself when I ask questions.
HOST: Leeeroy How do raise the landing gear without crashing? I always get the answer @a@l@t@f@4@.
HOST: 4CHAN How come when I hit F12 and talk no one around me hears me but you guys?
HOST: 4CHAN in the tower they tell me to just keep trying and no onw will help me fix the problem.
