Surely if they make automatic weapons illegal our streets will be much safer, right? I mean...just like they made drugs illegal, now our streets are drug free!

Actually, there's many legal actions that can be taken.  Now, if the states want to do it beyond a Federal level, then the recourse is far more complicated.

they won't ban guns, that would be completely illogical and also probably impossible

you might get some slightly tighter gun laws...just to appease the masses calling for action....ideal solution,ty can say they did something about it without really changing the fundamental issue

Im curious what Congress will do considering it is rumored that Obama is going to make an executive order.  I dont know if he is going follow through with it or of its even with his power to do such a thing but in my opinion I dont see a ban on guns.  I see a serious reform in terms of how hard it will be to get a gun license in terms of some serious background and psychiatric checks but I also do see a limit on the type of guns as well such as clip size.

The masses aren't calling for action.

It's just a few noisy individuals.

Legally there really isn't anything they can do.  Our forefathers already took care of that.

So of course they'll try an     "alternative"       hoping that nobody (meaning our elected and appointed officials) will dare stand up for our rights.

Legally, they'd have to get laws written through congress.  That's how our government works.

I suspect nothing or if anything "extreme", the feds will copy "well regulated" states and their legislation that they've had in effect for already a decade if not longer....

Definetley 99.9% media hoopla/hype, this is clearly the end of the world for firearms lovers and hunters nationwide when all "those !@#$ liberal's and their gun laws" spread around to most the other state's.   :noid

It isn't even "the feds" that are planning anything...  It's just a couple of officials.

I don't think there are enough of them involved to consider them "the feds".

*hippiest tone* "Hey man", I'm just passing along what the news is spreading as fact.

If it is just a couple blow-hards with no real federal or legislative influence, why are gun sales blowing-up and this topic frequently spotlighted during primetime?...   :devil

I signed this petition for the 2nd amendment

Is it me, or it that petition/link a dejavu (a near copy with only a few apropriate titles/sentences/links edited) of that one for Texas and other states after the recent elections who wanted to succeed from the union?   :headscratch:   :rofl

I believe this to be true. But I don't think it'll be as straight forward as just banning them. Guns will probably go the way cigarettes went. Raise the price on them to the extent that one one can afford them. The same with ammo, gun powder and reloading supplies.

Yeah it'll happen but it'll be in little steps as to keep public outrage down. I think the government knows if they outright banned all firearms tomorrow, they would have protests in the streets before noon.

Petition signed....Thanks TwinBoom  :salute
