I was looking around on YouTube today and I just so happened to stumble upon this video here, and found it genuinely interesting.

Apparently there's a way to turn an oil filter into a gun suppressor. Its not illegal or anything and its a lot cheaper than buying a "real" suppressor.

What, exactly is the point?

.22LR is real easy to suppress with almost any simple container, like a plastic bottle.

Didn't they used to (or maybe still do) make special sub-sonic .22LR or some .22 round?

I always called em .22 short.  I have no idea if you can still find em, I havent bought any in forever.  The sound of the bullet impact was louder than the shot.

theres plenty of subsonic .22LR available, its standard for pest control, barely louder than a high pressure .22 air rifle.

dont let the "short" designation fool you.  There is plenty of supersonic .22 short ammo available. Likewise, there is plenty of subsonic .22 long rifle as well.   :aok
