Oil Filter Suppressors?
« on: January 17, 2013, 05:46:13 PM »
I was looking around on YouTube today and I just so happened to stumble upon this video here, and found it genuinely interesting.

Apparently there's a way to turn an oil filter into a gun suppressor. Its not illegal or anything and its a lot cheaper than buying a "real" suppressor.

Good luck hitting anything farther than 5 yds.

But your paying $200 bucks extra to put an oil filter on the end of you gun..... cool if the zombies come and you want a suppressor, but I'd rather pay for a real one.

Did you even watch the video? When the guy uses his .22 rifle he was able to hit a gong at about 75-ish yards.

Can someone explain to me exactly how this is legal without a tax stamp? :headscratch:

It's not. You still have to pay the $200 dollar tax stamp.

Unless he is a licensed manufacturer than he can make anything he wants.  If the common Joe wants to own one regardless of what it is made of then yes he must pay the $200 tax stamp and have the silencer registered.

.22LR is real easy to suppress with almost any simple container, like a plastic bottle.

Didn't they used to (or maybe still do) make special sub-sonic .22LR or some .22 round?
