Buff Formation Pilot Wounds
« on: January 17, 2013, 03:00:18 PM »
Two items:

1.  I've had this happen twice so far... Was pilot wounded in a buff, and eventually bled out and died on the ride home.  When the game finally kills you and teleports you to another ship in the formation, the engines are off and you have to start them manually.  Not a big deal but could be corrected.

2.  When Pilot wounded in a buff formation, you pass out as normal.  During this pass out, you can move to a gunner's view and the pilot wound does not affect the gunner.  The last several times I've had a pilot wound, this wound also affected the bombardier, which is also a completely different person.  Is this intentional or should it be consistent?   Even one step further would be, are both pilots in the cockpit wounded, as well as the bombardier?

My experience.

Second part: Your gunners aren't wounded. That's normal. Part with the bombardier is an issue though.

pilot co-pilot and  bombardier are all in the front of the plane. so ehhh no real need to change it. odds are if u hit the pilot, than your going to hit the guys right next to him.

Not asking for anything to change necessarily for number 2, just trying to understand intent and have a little consistency. Either model the hits as they happen (preferred), or bleed the pilot wound across the gunners too.

On some bombers the pilot and bombardier sat a fair way apart. In the case of the Lanc, the pilot is closer to the nose gunner then the bombardier.

E.g, here is a B17f, note the mid-upper gunners location to the bombardiers.

an attack from high rear and head on would kills/wounds everyone in front of plane. also just a couple mins of angle difference from other angles and bullet dispersion would also put those guys in front of plane in a lot of trouble.

:airplane: Nose gunner should not be able to change power settings, RPM changes or change salvo's, but all that can be executed as it is now modeled in the game. Aircraft also should not be able to be flown from the nose gunner position, as the only control he had were the guns. Bombardier could change headings if autopilot was engaged, but could do nothing about power changes, RPM or any engine management. Aircraft should not return to straight and level flight when moving to a gun position, but it does! What ever attitude the aircraft is in when engaging shft + X should remain in that attitude, but it doesn't. But what the heck, its just a game anyway! A good amount of "realism" in this game, but likes a whole lot being complete!
