Viewing performance charts in flight
« on: January 17, 2013, 11:35:57 PM »
It would be great to have the ability to view plane performance charts while in flight and gv armor specs while in a gv. Browsing them would fill the time while climbing to alt in a bomber, and driving long distances in a gv.

Or even option to display the energy maneuverability diagram in flight and a dot where you flying ATM. Of course enabled only on TA.

+1 for the aircraft you are flying at the time, -1 for the rest.

+1.

Don't see the harm in all planes being allowed either, but have t default open to your current one. Just some light reading material, while waiting to get picked!  :rofl

:airplane: If you are flying an aircraft in this game, without first reviewing the MOH, then you are at a disadvantage in flying the aircraft to begin with! The E6B is a very useful tool for fuel management, distance to travel with remaining fuel and etc. But, it would be nice if an addition was added to the clipboard, with a pull down window for the MOH's on each aircraft in the game, which could be reviewed during flight. The only problem would be the amount of memory required by your computer to store all that info. NOt sure the return on time invested to do this, would be worth it. How many people in this game do you think would understand: VNO, VlfE, VSO and so forth? Aces High has some very good info on the training pages and some really good instructors available in the training arena,(which a lot of people are not taking advantage of), and I think it would benefit anyone flying in this game to avail themselves to every training aid available to them, including the instructors in the training arena. You can even make an appointment with any of them, so that you can have one on one training.
I installed a Bomber check pilot in our squad, the Devil Dogs about a year ago, and it has worked really well for us. The check pilots name is Dhawk and we have a complete checkout in the B-17G and if we find someone who needs training in a particular area, then we can spend the time to train him correctly. Dhawk has done an outstanding job with this responsibility!!! We also have a fighter pilot check pilot, Tazz69, who also has done a super job with out fighter squadron. Anyone needing assistance can obtain it by contacting me and either of these men and we will help you as best we can.
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

Good points earl, thanks. Don't forget Vne! My Cessna 152 was 149kts. I just figured as far as realism goes, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for a pilot to have some notes on known performance of enemy planes. I do check the charts for the plane i'm flying, I was thinking more about enemy planes; something to look at during long flights. I didn't consider the memory requirements. Good post.

Hmp...  Hard... copy...  How quaint.

I say why not have them available from the clipboard in flight?  Quite often in a plane I don't fly much I find myself wondering what alt is best cruise speed attained at.

I would but you wouldn't like my shipping fees.  :neener:

Seeing as you would most likely have a had time naming 20 planes you see in a normal 4-5 hour  :O flying session. I don't think it would be to great a drain on a printer to have a dozen or so on hand. Add one a week as a special treat. Before long you'll have a whole binder full of them.

I would like to be able to grab aircraft performance charts from the clipboard in flight.
Yes I could print it, No I do not wish to.   I want easy clickable access while I am in transit to a fight.  Just because there is an available solution (like printing) doesn't mean its the best.  I can alt/tab and view these numbers from the AH website but I am no longer included in the game while viewing those.  It's readily available in the hanger, why not in flight?
