any idea would be greatly appreciated..  my frame rate is way high but when I get in the tower it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minute for all to colour in..  my fps is in the high 40 to 60 and more..  increase graphics and slows it down..  wondering why it takes so long for everything to be painted in..I've seen my fps go to 100 and yes I made sure the frame is unchecked.. I'll fly along and at times it will show white rectangles till it is fill in..  even when I pop up the map it is white for a few minutes..but my fps is high.. got my resolution set at 1028x 780 but it seem to not matter what resolution I set it or for that matter the graphics detail.. sure the higher graphic slow down my fps but I keep my setting less than the middle..  only have bump map on and the horizon..  all else is enable.. I have an older system..  P4 2.4 pentium with 2gig onboard sound card which lately has a buzzing noise each time I fired up AH.. I cannot keep my sound accererator to 3/4 for some reason as it always goes wide open..I have a 9800pro 128 card..  this all started with the new download..  I know..  new system is due but if this system can run AH decently then why graduated when old can follow..for now..      now trying to figure out how to send my dx..

Ya your going to have to turn your graphics down. When you first launch the game, when the notepad comes up, click on video. In there make sure the texture size is at 512, maybe even 256. That video card is old and doesn't have enough memory to load the "colors" fast enough. By turning it down you might be able to get by for a while.

512 is as low as I can get..  at first it wouldn't come up till I turn down the res..  played with it and no different..  but 512 is as low as I can get... :(

A DXDIAG output would be helpful.

OK you posted enough!  :D

Your right it is time for an upgrade. That computer just makes the minimum requirements. You would have to turn ALL the ye candy off in the game as well as cleaning your system (hit cntrl, alt, delete. check the number of processes running and get them as low as possible XP you should be able to get down to 12-15) Even then it will be slow as half your ram is used to keep windows running and your video card has very little ram to help.

I am surprised it loaded the game and ran.  128MB of video RAM is really not enough to run the game, even with the bare minimums selected in all the graphic options.

thanks guys.  I have working pretty good.  loads up quick and runs fine even in battle..if push come to shove I can still lower my graphics a bit more and later on this year a new system..till then I'm having fun..
