If you have to roll faster use the rudder. It is quite effective.

Fire only 1 set of guns at a time in tracking shots. You will get double the spraying time and 2 hispanos will get the job done. In snapshots or against bombers fire all guns though.

The tiff is very controllable in a snap roll. Mater it and you may surprise a few enemies.

Don't turn it. It can cut a high speed 90 degree corner with the best of them, but the speed cost is very high. If you can't get the shot in less than 90 degrees, unload and do something different.

Wear a false mustache when you fly it. It is an ugly plane and you do not want any paparazzi to have your picture sitting in it. It seems like the Brits have spent all their beauty points on the spits and mossies.

I know that the last post was long ago, but I can't let stand a statement that the Typhoon is ugly.  It simply isn't true, and that statement is in fact punishable by at least some time in a British cell with damp straw as bedding.  ;)

Typhoon is a hell of a better dogfighter then a Dora, I have a film where i upped a while back from a capped field, and managed to stay alive and shoot down at least 7 or 9.

109 eats a Tiffy, 190s get eaten (unless its an A5 then Ive lost more then i've shot dwon)

Uhm, sorry, no.

you think the 190 would win in a turn fight?

I think we need to try a few sessions  190D vs  P51 / TYPH .

I think the problem is there are very few pilots that could extract the most out of those combinations of planes but I would always argue as long as there isn't a wide difference in overall speed and acceleration the better turning plane would win a 1vs1 fight.   Unless you can rope which by your own definitions isn't fighting.

MANY people underestimate the 190A-5 when turning.  More than once I've made P47's, P38's, and even a Tiff and P51D or two pay the price of under estimating the 190A-5 in a turn (if I can get the Tiff to turn left with me I've won).  With that said, I only allowed myself to get in to that situation after not be able to successfully use the roll and slash attacks/snap shots.  All of the 190's need to be kept fast and the roll needs to be the bread and butter.  Turn fighting, even in the A-5 should be a very last resort.

didn't mention the A5 at all bud,  that is a mid war plane and as such would indeed do very well against it's contemporaries.

Lately iv'e been flying the Typhoon in offline missions to get the hang of it. Lots of torque to the right and high speed at most alts. It seems like I spray all of my cannon ammo and have to RTB with only 2-4 kills, rarely will I get 5 or more. Now I know that offline missions aren't exactly up to Training Arena standards, but its all I have for the time being. What I want to know is if there's a possibility to get that fat bird to turn, not like a Spit16 or Hurri2, but decent enough to catch a 109 or 51 in a turn. Would flaps and throttle adjustment be useful, or would only throttle adjustment be needed? Flaps don't come out until 140 IAS I think, and I don't plan to get that slow.

If there's anything that helps me get away from a purely BnZ type of tactic in this plane, i'd love to know.  :salute

You should cut power, dump full flaps, and pull G for all you're worth.  The Tyffie excels at turnfighting.   :rofl

I think he was joking. One thing to remember is the Typh stops like a stone when you cut power and can easily force an over shoot. Just b sure you have a lot of air under you if you do it cause "no" its not a turn fighter. "Betty" used to be awfully good in a Typhie. I remember a few memorable fights when I was in a LA or a Yak.

I was joking myself. Although if I'm low on fuel I'll mix it up with turners :t
