The J2M "Jack"
« on: February 01, 2013, 02:52:40 AM »
The Mitsubishi J2M Raiden, a.k.a. "Jack."

The threads on this plane I see are pretty old. So any hope for it in AH?

http://www.century-of-flight.net/Aviation%20history/photo_albums/timeline/ww2/Mitsubishi%20J2M%20Raiden.htm

This link is only cursory, I've been reading that there were numerous armament packages used. One including 40mm's, however I don't think that package would suit any purpose as it it was reported to be inaccurate over D3.

On the other hand 4 20mm's would be impressive and make bomber hunting more fun.

I expect we will see it sometime. It is likely to be fairly similar to the N1K-2 we already have. Judging from the numbers it ought to be slightly faster and a bit less maneuverable but with the same guns.

The J2M never carried 40mm recoiless rifles, that was a version of the Army's Ki-44.

That said, I'd like to see both added.

Not a bad wish, but the next Japanese fighter should be.... .....

As long as we keep the existing K1-61-Kai. I love my German cannons.

We have the Ki-61-I-Tei which has the two Ho-5 cannons in the nose.

The Ki-61-I-Hei had the German MG121/20's in the wings.

I hope HTC flushes the Ki-61 set out when he updates the one we have.

Till then......Banzai!

It's cool to see the amount of support here for expansion of Japanese plane set.  :rock

Thanks gentlemen for your responses.

Karnak: Ok thanks for the correction. I was up late the night before reading on the J2M and I also read some on the Ki-44, I guess I mixed the 40mm's up.

There is always "hope", but you'll never get any type of conformation here on the boards. The first you'll know of it being in the que is when HTC posts some pictures of it just before the release.
