Has anyone done this in an La5 yet? Everyone knows I'm just a picker and a runner and I haven't been able to secure more than 5 with those shoddy cannons.  :joystick:

Got 9 with one rearm a couple of days ago but ran out of gas trying to rtb and ditched a few hundred yards off the end of the runway....   :furious

Other than that two different flights with 7 kills that ended up with a damaged plane and a successful landing, but no rearm.

And yes, those are some shoddy cannons, but lulu's running P51 still took one to the back of the head at 800 out and went :poof: with 1 ping! But that was just a lucky spray at a runner, otherwise I never fire til I'm at 200.... 400 off their 6 is a desperation shot with those guns.

This is not much of a challenge for such a reward.

You should propose a challenge that SkyRock did several years ago!

Land 2 confirmed kills in every single ride in the inventory, I believe it included GVs also, eh Sky?

I believe he did it in one tour also

Keep the bar high  :aok

The shvak 20mm seem pretty ineffective as of recently.

Did anything change?

It's still up for grabs... either it's more difficult than expected, or not many people are trying.

Died a few days ago with 11... :cry

Its a lot harder than some people are making it out to be... Weak guns, not the best turner, only modest speed...unless you're never leaving the cloud of friends that are always there to keep you safe, this is a good challenge IMHO.

Been flying La5 bit this month, I've always preferred it over the La7, as for all it's short comings only one I consider is fuel range, you have to climb and cruise and low rpm to gain any range and chance of RTB. Turns ok, awesome vertical and acceleration, WEP seems to last as long as there is fuel in the tank (not long under WEP)

As for guns they can take down most fighters in one pass under 250, lot more powerful and more ammo then the Yak  :D

Probably point I dislike the most is views compared to the Yak, but at least the La's have been updated to AH2 which makes up for it.

You mean this Yak 3?  This Yak is parked less than 25 miles from AH in Dallas at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum.

However I ran out of fuel and ditched it within walking distance of the runway. The fuel loadout is tough. But actually finding 13 planes willing to fight might still be the hardest part. Ridiculously timid.

Changeup that's a great photo. I had the pleasure of watching La9 at an airshow in Wanaka a few years back, wonderful looking aircraft and great sound.

Scotch, I have similar experience, 1v1 some don't hang around to see whether it's an La5 or la7 they just see La tag and dive away if they don't have an alt or numbers advantage.

Starting to like the La5 more, something bit different and interesting to fly.

tried for a couple and I gave, you need a major furball that lasts for at least 40 mins or be extremely lucky. after dieing a few times with 10+ I nearly went nuts and stopped  :bhead

In any case its harder than I thought mostly because of the fuel load, but the air intake on the nose does its part as well in restricting the view, turning 50% of the shots into "blind" shot.
