Well, you wanted realistic damage, right?  A sizzling, frazzled player would be somewhat unique, yes?

I agree Scooby. A foggy Pac theater would probably be accurate, especially at dawn.

yepp, I would add really, really dense fog all the time, especially @ night. And what about wings freezing over, you know, like stalling @ 300 knots because laminar flows are gone. And yes, of course I want clear icing and the not-clear variety. Just for the effect. Then random failures, so many things could fail in planes and it's not modelled. Nothing like being killed without even seeing a con or even falling clear out of the sky without understanding the reason after an hour flying somewhere.  You die and can do nothing about it and that's it, just like real, real life. It's even better than real life since you cannot feel g-forces, you have no 3D  or peripherial vision, you have lag, you have warps, just GREAT.

Seriously, IMHO this sim is getting ridiculously hard and buggier and buggier. New slaped in features, mostly making things harder without adding anything to the experience of a flight sim. I thought once we're out of beta we'll get some more stable product with steady improvements but no, we get stuff slapped in and things that are obviously making the sim buggy and kills lots of flight experience (88 acks, try that for a while, U may pass on fog) are just being ignored. I joined AH since I thought this is a _flight_ sim of highest quality and not a mom-and-pop, I can drive a tank and row a boat warpy 300 people in arena french-fries franchise taht it's becoming.

again, just my personal opinion here. I'd rather not see new features for a while and the existing flight stuff solidly tuned. And then throw out lots of stuff like the weather-makes-icons-invisible into restricted places for the masochists.

You want easy, go play FA2...
As far as the "buggy" comment... what features in this game do not do what they are designed to do? If your PC is locking up or you are getting CTDs, I can guarantee you it ain't the game... My PC runs AH like a champ and it's only a Celeron 466.

I don't know what the big deal is with the 88s.  I can honestly say that I fly straight through it and only rarely take a hit.  Only 2 times in the last 2 tours have I been damaged to the point that I had to RTB.  Except for fleet gunners, I've only had the 1 ping and on fire once.

Maybe it's the way I fly through it.  I just fly straight through, while very slowly changing altitude.

I've also never had AH lockup on me, EVER.  I've had 2 dumps to desktop, usually while trying to view old films, but never a hard lock-up.

I honestly believe people aren't updating their systems and drivers like they should be.

Or something like that Bloom, it could be a variety of things... but linked to AH? Highly doubtful if you are keeping your system in check.

I have had Aces High installed since 1.03 (not on this hard drive, but all I did was transfer my entire drive structure over to my new 30GB drive), and all I've done is download the updates.

I read fixes from guys that say "delete the entire AH directory then download the entire thing again." That kind of makes me curious, how is it going bad on some users while I'm sitting here and haven't updated my drivers since I last tested out the beta drivers for the V5(and quickly uninstalled them...). I have the Saitek X36 setup, and have the software that came on the CD... haven't had the need to update it at all.

Running RW in DirectSound recording, AH autolaunches it and I have only DX8.0, do not have 8.0a... only problem I have is that I'm given an error msg upon closing AH, which I click "okay" to and it's fine. The only artifacts left over is the minimized RW icon in the system tray... to remove that I simply move my mouse over it and it goes away.

So I dunno... guess it's either a matter of neophyte PC users or people simply want to blame the software without looking into their own computer.

Prz if you thought the sim was hard now , I guess you never played with 1.03 and below. For some planes it got easier but for others....(blah blah LWhiner)

Adios.

I'm flying this stuff since early beta and what I try to say is not that the 'flying'-part is too hard, that is fine, it's accurate, plane flight model changes and improves, every plane is a squeak in its own right, that is fine again, supposed to be. Many better pilots can get me down with better ACM, better gunnery, better SA, that's all fine, supposed to be and can be analyzed and learned and I steadily see myself improving. It's like a game of golf, humbles you everytime and then gives you enough to come back. What I am trying to express is that I do not care for all the additions I consider making the sim 'hard' in the sense that you cannot control them. What do I care for 88s that kill me magically, what do I care for clouds that make the icons dark and unreadable, I'm not flying to ruin my eyes and perch on the edge of the sit waiting for disaster to strike, I'm flying to have fights and a situation where things don't depend 99% on the throw of a dice. What do I care for 250+ people in the arena making a gunsight a 50%-50% chance of warping the moment I push my trigger ? What do I care for magic-kill osties sitting 1/2 mile of the runway that cannot be touched with 4x20 cannons of most planes ? What do I care for night where blind men stumble over blind men ? What do I care for CVs and buffs going out the map ? Each of this features just adds more to 'gaming the game' and not to the superb fighter prop sim that AH claimed to be. I can go on and on but that's beside the point, we all know how many ad-hoc features have been thrown in instead of making the flight part existing well-tuned.

So if you that far and got what I said and are not any of the usual slightly dyslexic, 15-secs attention span subjects that immediately flip the 'another dweeb' attitude you may sense that I'm spending more and more of my limited time avoiding things in this sim rather than flying a prop-fighter sim and when this ratio drops enough, I'll just vote with my dollars. Direction continuing, I see AH going to be a 9.99$ mom-and-pop frag-sim and then guess what, you'll see a 'simple'-mode implemented in no time as well since that's what the masses will want.

Prz,agreed, I would of said something about it but my current posture with the HTC crew has left me censored until both parties cool off from the recent incidents in the BBS and on Ch1. Which I've told HT that for the remainder of my stay here in AH I will not say a word on ch1, so don't worry I'll have it squelched.

I would of added my colorful way of expressing, but that doesn't work does it?

Some parts of the flight sim enviroment must be improved before further development of features.

 again adios,
