Favorite thing about it? The part where he says "I'm a soldier" and the cop says "you're dealing with a  Marine"
Like, ya know, when that thing that makes you move, it has pistons and things, When your thingamajigy is providing power, you do not hear other peoples thingamajig when they are providing power.

This is a huge topic on a different forum I frequent.  It comes down to who was the instigator, who deserved what, what was rightful in "use of force", and dealing with the situation on familiar term (grunt vs leatherneck with some posturing involved).  Ultimately, the LEO stopped the situation with serving the soldier a bit a his own medicine.  What it right while wearing the uniform of a COP against a civilian? The jury is out. I know the odds of me going that far that quickly are very slim, I'm more of a "hey, I'm here  to help you so don't work against me" type of guy in those situations.  I'm not a veteran so I wouldn't have a comeback to combat that (no pun intended), but I know enough about the happenings in the military to throw back at him something about respecting authority and as a soldier he know there are many things above him that he cant control, and now that I'm here the situation is no different but instead of him getting kp or latrine duty he'd go to jail for being an obstructionist.   :D

Ultimately, I think was an alright move.  The slap was a wake up call and nothing more. Notice how the hostile situation ended with the slap?  While I certainly do not condone it, I can't condemn it either.  The LEO made a judgement call to deal with it on the level he did and it worked.

I don't blame that former Marine for taking offense when that guy got in his face and tried playing the I'm a US Solder card while not acting like a solder.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

I noticed how the cops were more interested in boosting up their ego instead of helping the guy who was a victim of an assault. His attitude was bad, granted but if a finnish LEO would have been there they would have helped this guy and apologized for being late instead of slapping him.

I witnessed a friend arrested in a similar situation. I won't get into the details, but my friend was waving his cigarette in the officer's face, probably within 10 inches (25 cm). However, the officer then proceeded, very calmly, to wave a pair cuffs in my friends face. My friend immediately stopped complaining and allowed the officer to apply the handcuffs without using any force.

The soldier lost all credibility when he started swearing and squared up on the officer.....hes lucky a slap is all he got.

I pray the following:

1) The cops were fired.
2) The cops were prosecuted.
3) The cops were given 5 years hard time.
4) If any of them is actually a Marine, the Marines prosecute him for giving them a bad name.

Talking hard to LEO is always a bad idea. That said, there will be someone quicker, bigger and stronger than that 'marine'. There was a little more going on than a slap, wasn't there...

The slap, or the subsequent knee to the chest wasn't necessary IMO.  A smarter man could've defused that situation without the use of force.  Just like the rest of us, LEO's are human...  There's good ones and bad ones.

Obviously, there's fault on both sides.  That's just what happens when two idiots confront each other.

The force may not have been necessary but that soldier woke up real quick when that happened. He needed to be reminded of the following:

1. He's a soldier, he needs to act like it.

2. Marines are simply better than soldiers, even when done with the military. ;)

You guys calling him a pig etc. need a reality check. I bet you condoned that 18 year old girl flipping off the judge.

(Also notice that the cop was incredibly friendly. He accepted his apology, explained why he did what he did. etc.)
