February Frame 3 final fight over A98 <<SALUTE>>
« on: February 16, 2013, 02:07:10 AM »
:salute to the Axis forces over A98 in the last part of FSO.  Thought we were playing around with a squad or two.  Looked like we were tangling with the entire remaining Axis forces.  That was one hell of a fight!!!

KN showed up fashionably late but still had some fun. Lots of red cons, was a great time. <S> Very tough trying to get a 190F8 to turn with Spits and P40s. :)

It wasn't the whole Luftwaffe you faced, just JG 11, Muppets, and Kommando Nowotny. I think the 50 or so that were still up that were not those 3 squads would have been much easier to handle  :devil

Great fight at any rate, damned F-8 it is a pig  :joystick:

Right at the point when I had to bail, there were 42 Axis in flight and 8 Allies in flight.  All 8 were G3-MF in the fight for life.  Looked up and I saw 2 109s and 2 190s immediately close to me.  Looked west and up and straight up and the sky was black with dots.

Amazing we lasted as long as we did for when I checked the roster I realized what just happened!

I am still shakey from that fight!  HAHAHAHAHA!!!

OUTSTANDING fight guys.  And to think we thought we had a chance!!!   :furious

It was fun!!!

After rearm there was nothing to be found in the way of Allied aircraft.

III/JG11 traveled the entire Gustav line...and still nothing.

Finally a report from VF-17 suggested a large force of enemy fighters had survived over the shipping to the Northeast.

We set up over A98 and waited.

At first it looked grim, as we only had 8 aircraft left...and the Allies poured into the A98 area in force.

The fight went well however...and we were able to call in support from KN, and AoM.

For me...I shook the Jonah off at last...and to Allies over 98...a big salute.

The 4 spits that eventually pushed me down and out...You took my wingtip off...but I made it home.  :D

Good fight...Great frame!
