I recall someone playing a pirate game which was supposed to be good

Pirates of the Burning Sea, the pirate MMO game?

Well, it was a fun time for me, but then again I helped make it.  For all you navy officers in that game I hope you liked the La Belle ship you start with.  You see, I made that ship, and the Cruizer 16 gun "snow" class ship as well.

I wish more of those board games were ported over to the PC. Particularly the older ones ones put out by Avalon Hill with all those little cardboard chips representing units such as the one with the massive map with  "Blitzkrieg",
