Head Position Views--Move speed
« on: February 18, 2013, 05:21:54 PM »
Is there any way to slow down the speed at which your position moves with the arrows or pgup/pgdn keys when setting the views? I'm having a hard time tweaking my forward views as every time I simply tap an arrow the view just moves too quickly and also farther than I'd wanted. I'll mess with it for a while back and forth and it'll get close enough but if it just moved a bit slower I could get it right the first time. Same effect in films. Anyone?

Are you using snap views instead of pan?

As a matter of fact yeah. I didn't think the speed would change depending on view mode. I'll give that a shot tonight.

It probably won't make any difference.  Just an idle thought at work.

When I was trying to set mine to a pixel point I would just go back and forth until I happened to hit it just right.
By holding the key and going back a little further I could tap the key and go forward without overshooting the mark.

The issue seems to be the typematic rate of the keyboard.

Drano,
what FLS posted about the typematic / key speed rate of your keyboard might be the key......

just an opinion of mine, but I can tell the difference in how easy/hard it is to set my views whether I am on my Logitech G510 gameing keyboard I use on my Intel PC I built similar to yours... or like how terrible of a time I am having over her at my Lady's place on my back up PC using one of my GK-K6800 GIGABYTE multimedia ( notice: P-O-S )  keyboard that I use ...... seems my G510 keyboard is much smoother and even lets me get mostly full use of the arrow keys and pageUp / PageDwn keys........... on this other keyboard, sometimes some of the arrow keys won't even let me move at all in certian viewing positions like looking left I get full use and can adjust all around / looking right I can not get the down arrow key to work ......... crazy stuff like that

hope you get your's figured out

let me know if switching between snap view or panning view helps any, please

TC ( Johnny )

EDIT: crap, I just realized this thread was posted over a week ago........ anyways, Drano let me know if ya figured out anything, Sir... Thanks

I map mine to analog outputs on my stick.  It works great.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

I tried setting the type speed to the slowest setting. It didn't help. One thing I did notice is it'll move slowly at first but then suddenly accelerate and it'll stay at that faster rate from that point on. Didn't try setting to pan rather than instant. Will see if that does it. Just a minor annoyance.
