I'm all for it, but personally I'd rather see player controlled cruiser/battleship/destroyers first.

Let them cost 50 bomber perks each (may seem low, but a solitary ship wouldn't be much for any heavy fighter to take down anyways), available only at ports (maybe we can have spawn points from ports to middle of the oceans to assist players somewhat, or alternately allow them to be routed remotely). Existing bomber options of having a player join as gunner etc can also be used (would allow for 2 seperate 8" gunners).

the very latest of the german u-boats at the end of the war were the only ones to reach even near those speeds underwater, and without looking, even those seem rather high. had they been been around near the beginning of the war its hard to say what could have happened, they were designed to go underwater and stay underwater, but only a few of them got built and by the time Germany surrendered i think there were maybe 4 operating, again this is all from things i used to know.

your average underwater top speed would be around 7 knots for on the surface 20 would probably be on the top end or there abouts anyway

You are correct sir, I do apologize for the inaccuracy. It was late, I was tired and had to get up early so I posted the first stats I found. I should have done some more research. The U-boats that I was referencing were late war models and only 4 were made (I believe two additional ones were scuttled if I read that right).

I'm sensing now that input from HT, Skuzzy, or Pyro may be needed to settle this discussion. If the conversation reaches 5 pages we may want to consider getting their input...

chef,
While this may be 'Merica, you have to remember that the game is made by a couple of guys in a small building somewhere in the middle of the desert, running off of too much booze and way too many sheep. And to top it all off... one of them may have syphilis...  :uhoh :bolt:

I can say from experience that programing is not easy (you should try it sometime for a perspective  ;)), I applaud the guys who do an outstanding job with this game, and have managed to keep it going for all these years. Companies like DICE and Trearch both employ a small army of code monkeys who can turn out a few hundred lines of code in about a week, HTC prefeers a bit of a slower pase which I'm fine with. And while there are things that HTC can do to speed up the addition of the subs, I doubt that any of them will happen because of a number of reasons, the biggest being money. After a simple forum search, I found that the only reference to subs made by HT, was 12 years ago. I'm sure that this is something that has been a work in progress the whole time.

Remember, this is something that has been asked for over and over again. The question is not are we getting it, it's when. I suspect that we will see a lot of supporting material being added prior to the release (or even announcement) of the subs addition.

Further more, ADHD is a handicap that I personally suffer with. It's one of the reasons I have a dozen half finished projects lying around my... Oh look sheep!

On the side notes:
Final point - YOU may be American, I however am a Scotsman, and proud of it. Remember, we were fighting long before the Americas were even THOUGHT of being colonised!

Unfortunatly, ms Gillan is in the US at the moment! Funny thing is I have probably bumped into her in the street before she was famous, as she lives about 80 miles away from me! Wish I had asked her out now! She is definetly the best thing to have come out of Scotland in a long time! Though Amy Macdonald is a close second!

I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack
