The OP started the thread about Budweiser.

There are plenty of decent American beers, none of which come from the big brewing companies.

Dorothy Goodbodies sounds good, though.  There are a lot of nuances in beer that are caused by the water used.  Recently, the brewing recipe software has incorporated calculators of water from different parts of the world and tells a brewer the ingredients needed to add to your water to try to mimic the water from other parts of the world, such as Burton upon Trent if I wanted to make an authentic porter  :aok

Burton on Trent produces the best Pale Ales due to the salts in the water there - Marstons Pedigree being a prime example (in my opinion), for porters you want London water - very hard and more suited to the dark ales.

I've read your posts on brewing and like the setup you have there. I'm still on a 5 gallon brew length but ideally want a half brewers barrel - 18 gallons! Must clear out the garage.
