That kind of thinking is true only if you are being supported totally by the government without work on your part. It must have escaped your notice but your taxes, as far as income tax is concerned since you mentioned filing, is based on what YOU earn, not what you are given by the government. Your pay is based on what you did for an employer. The govt. just wants a part of it and how much they get depends on your level of income, deductions and how you file. In that case you are working to keep YOUR money rather than let the government spend it on something other than you.
dude due to the economy there's lots of people who want to work and have worked for years and arent too happy to have to live on welfare, but that doesnt mean they are in a "lower class" than those of us who are lucky enough to have a job.
just because you are on welfare it doesnt mean that you havent earned that money either. most have, as they have paid their taxes.
I am 48 and have worked since I was 16 paying taxes and have only collected unemployment or welfare twice. once in 1989 for about 5 months and again for about 6 months after 9/11. It stills bothers me to this day that, look some people gave me and others because we would use food stamps or unemployment checks because they assumed we were some lazy butt that didnt want to get a job. most people I know that are collecting welfare have put in lots of years into the system and would be more than happy to put in more years as soon as they can.
but everyone who works can take deductions on their taxes so its fair across the board. The difference is I can't go down and get food stamps because I am the underdog.... I have a job. So that's discrimination, because I'm employed.
that is total bs, you can have a job and collect food stamps or other help. just ask some of the wall-mart employees. just like deductions on taxes, getting welfare is based on some standard you have to meet.
