special graphic card
« on: March 02, 2013, 08:54:28 AM »
Does exist a graphic card that can save on a disk its memory contents?
So that users can by-pass AH saving's procedures?

The memory of a graphic card is RAM type. That means, it is rewritten over all the time, it doesn't actually save anything on it. Only the last second or so could be saved from it.

What actually are the "AH saving's procedures" you're referring to? The only things I can imagine as "savings" in AH are settings - both video and joystick - and filmed sorties. The former have only to be done once, the latter can be automated.

If you're looking for a way to record the gameplay, you can use FRAPS to do it. It's a software so it works with any graphics card.

I was looking for a gpu that was able to save its content directly on a hard disk, to avoid that
AH spends time to do that through film save option.

You would need to have an insanely fast and large hard disk to be able to receive a direct stream from a graphics card. So that's not even practically possible. Fraps encodes and compresses the stream and it still takes gigabytes of space fast.

If AH film saving takes too long, you either have very long sorties or a very slow computer. If the film saving takes more than a few seconds, I recommend you to use the time for stretching and other excercises to prevent future health problems caused by a tense flying posture.

lulu it will get expensive but you can use an HDMI capture device.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

this will do, but capturing your screen on your own computer is going to kill your performance, I'd suggest something like that for gaming, something external, not that very model http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr2-gaming.html

or your can get the card you linked and put it in a second computer.

The problem sounds like it's not your video card but rather your film folder has grown full.  One lower end systems, the more films you have in the folder the longer it can take to save them to your hard drive.  Rename your current films folder to "Old Films" so AH can recreate a new empty films folder and you should see the problem go away until the films folder gets full again.

This is usually due to a crappy antivirus which scans the whole folder contents when it's accessed.
