Slide Fire rifle stocks.
« on: March 05, 2013, 03:40:17 AM »
Anyone tried one?  They look like they'd make a fun range toy.

If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

Not enough ammo available to "play" with that.

Yes, tried the AK and AR slidefire.. Takes a little practice to get the hold just right, so it cycles consistently..
But it works OK I guess.. And then there is the whole ammo wastage issue, just too precious now for dirtshootin..

Last I looked, they were 2-300$, too much for a gimmick..
I might pop for one at $100 tho..

You guys still hoarding ammo? Is there any real danger of ammo being banned?

It doesn't take too much to make people hoard ammo.

That said, there were several rumored pieces of legislation regarding ammo, so I suppose the fear isn't completely without merit.

How can they ban ammo? lots of bolt action hunting rifles use the same calibers.

Off the top of my head, there was one piece of legislation being proposed that limited the amount you could purchase.  I cannot remember the particular restrictions.

That's usually all it takes.

Tough to hoard when it's not available.  I bought an Mp-5 A5 .22 LR in the middle of December, then discovered that there was a
panic buy problem with .22 in addition to the 5.56mm and other calibers.  I have 375 rounds of CCI and that was very expensive.

Folks up here are paying $40-50 for a brick of 500 .22 rounds.  5.56 (if you can find any) has gone from around 32 cents a round to a bit over a dollar a round.  Ammo manufacturers are working overtime producing ammo, will take a bit to "catch up".

Here's MidwayUSA's online ammo catalog.  Out of the first 192 varieties of ammo listed, they have 2 that are available.

http://www.midwayusa.com/find?sortby=1&itemsperpage=96&newcategorydimensionid=9781

Extremists are making demands about limiting ammo purchases, extra taxes on ammo, background checks on ammo purchasers, banning types of ammo and according to some of my idiot facebook acquaintances we should have to buy insurance policies on guns and ammo.

Oddly I have no problems finding shotgun ammo, even oddball stuff like 16 gauge flechette rounds, Dragon's Breath, Bolo, Breaching rounds, Rock Salt etc...

I'm tempted to get some of these sabot rounds to try out.

My Dad just handed down an SKB 12 Gauge, a Corona-made Springfield 03A3, and a Remington 1400... buckets of ammo he's been keeping too... so I lucked out.

yes

Tried the bumpfire. It's neat but I think the Bumpski is a better option if you want to go the gimmick route.

If your worst fears come to pass, do you think there will be some sort of uprising?
