ArmA 3 Alpha released today...

Looks like a great thing when you can get the downloads happening and no I don't mind doing a pre-order and getting access to all the Alpha, Beta and "Deluxe" game editions with free DLC packs over the next couple of years.

I'm not a fan of the "pre-order/purchase" to get access to alpha testing business model, not really a fan of pre-purchasing to get into beta either.  I'm glad the company I work for doesn't do that for our online games.

After prepaying for Aliens Colonial Marines, I'll NEVER pre order and pay for anything again.  I almost did it for Starcraft Heart of the Swarm, as I've never had a bad Starcraft game, but I'm sticking to my rule now and just going to buy it after release.

I'm really looking forward to ARMA 3 however, as well as Flaming Cliffs 3, but I'm not going to pay for unfinished products ever again.

I like Arma-2, but I will NOT participate in their alpha.

Hell, I never participate in any alpha or beta.  I hate buggy software and game crashes.

What I really find offensive is paying to play buggy software.  Pay to play beta's and alphas are just not beta and alphas.  If there are money transactions, the game is out, and the name of beta and alpha are just cover stories for crummy software that they will patch later.

Well the Alpha is pretty solid and yes there are bugs but that was expected. Basically I am looking at this like a pre-purchase just like any other game but I am getting to play around in it long before it actually gets released. Ack-Ack I like the way Square Enix does business as well I am just loving playing ArmA again.

I don't suffer from ADD so I'll be waiting until it's out... and then still wait for the first patch release.

I hate to say it but it choked my GTX470 and I just got a new video card today (EVGA GTX 660 SC) and am getting a new CPU and mobo to go with it along with another 8GB of RAM to take me up to 16GB.
