Drones and Bank Angles
« on: March 12, 2013, 03:35:19 PM »
:airplane: One of the problems I notice with "Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????ÿ,~ÿ,~       276704511MltCpy2.10 FILL FILLed Sector; ST500DM002-9YN14 (CC4H) S1D5GMZYData Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????ion method and not flown like a fighter aircraft, but its hard to get people to realize that until they lose some drones.
Another point along this same line, I never change headings more than 30 degrees at a time, simply because guys get a little out of formation in a 60 or 90 degree heading change and they lose their drones by banking to steep, trying to stay with the group.
Maybe Aces High can adjust the drone response to stay in position in a 30 degree bank and a lot of the drone loss would go down.
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

If I am understanding your post correctly...

You are saying you fly your bombers correctly, and do not lose drones.

Other people fly their bombers incorrectly, and lose drones.

You want AH to make it OK for people not to fly properly, without being penalised for it?

 :headscratch:
Did you see my dad on dogfights yet?
I'll be seeing you face to face possibly next month.

i sometimes wonder if everyone's playing the same game..

i bet I can find a thread not more than a month old that says drones are too easy to keep on a leash and never get lost, even through loops and whatnot.  :rofl

Drones are less challenged in the vert than the horizontal.

I usually get in a gunner position and use my rudder to turn.  Maintains altitude and speed, and I never lose drones.  :aok

The game is already much too easy.  If folks are loosing their drones they needed to figure things out.

TEACH THEM HOW TO TURN !!!!

If you teach them, they learn, and become better players.

If people keep looking for the "easy way" and asking for the game to be dumbed down more and more, before you know it we will have a button on the dash that when you spawn you have your buddies hit it and it will fly the mission all by it self. Won't THAT be fun!

How about modifying this into:

A. Some kind of warning indicator for newer players letting them know they are turning too hard...

or, even easier

B.  When they DO lose their drones, instead of "blah blah shot you down" or no message at all if no enemy is near, have it display "Drone 2 lost formation and crashed" or something to that effect?

In-Game: 80hd
The Spartans do not enquire how many the enemy are but where they are.

I agree, but have option A be something you can disable

Tough to code, but perhaps drone loss due to flying a bomber like a fighter should count 2x deaths. For those who care about score, they might learn to fly bombers properly - for those who don't care, you can't make them care and they'll just do whatever they want anyway.

It sounds like this wish is all about bomber missions and the desire for the mission leader to arrive at the target with an intact force by asking the game designers to spend precious staffing resources to change the game mechanics for no real gameplay benefit.  When you expect and rely upon the general population to perform to your standards, you set yourself up for disappointment and failure. It's a game, some people play it as such and some people play it like it is for real. Not everybody wants to learn "proper" techniques, and forcing them to with artificial rules built into the code is a bad idea.

For me, if I were to set up a mission, the objective would be for everyone to have fun - green guys and red guys alike. As long as people have fun, I would consider it a success.

:airplane: You are right, you didn't understand the post or the purpose of the post. No I don't think it is OK for people to fly incorrectly and not being penalised. If Aces High can set the drone response to the lead bomber in a 10 degree bank, why not also in a 30 degree bank. My wish is to help the new guys, who un-like you, were not born into a pilot's seat and needs help learning the ins and outs of flying.

:airplane: Never saw a real bomber you could turn from a gunners position. When you do that, it degrades the game to the "cartoon" status.

Earl, I understand your passion. But it seems like you're asking HTC to expend an enormous amount of effort to make the game force a behavior that should be (and already is) up to the player to WANT to do. A player, if he desires to learn, can engage a real human trainer or someone skilled in a facet of the game such as you are, and get real help. Changing the game to limit a behavior does not teach anyone anything other than "don't do that".
