Took some pictures of my buddies freshly painted Viper today
« on: April 14, 2013, 10:12:39 PM »
The car is a 2002 Viper GTS. It started out life (with him anyway) as red with silver painted on stripes. He added some forgestar wheels and then had the entire car painted white.

This is the car when he got it:

The car has some mods and this is the current dyno chart (before and after adding a mail order tune)

And these are the pics of how it looks now. I took these today in Tampa. I am honestly not thrilled with how the pictures came out and would like to try again another day. He seems happy with them so maybe I am being too critical of my photos.

My Favorite shot of the group:

He is happy if he gets 140 miles out of a tank of gas (approx. 14 gallons) he was down to 1/8th of a tank and the trip odometer was at 98 miles (hence the license plate)

Enjoy

Nice car.  Looks good.  I kinda liked the way it looked previously, the red w/ white strips is a nice look.  However, it was a common paint job for the Viper.  Also, I'm not a fan of the all black wheels, but to each their own.

Sweet car.   :aok

That paint job sucked the life out of that car.

All those huge gaps between the panels make the car look like a plastic toy put together by a 5-year old :)

Dodge's fit and finish definitely leave a lot to be desired.  The paint guy did the best he could to align everything better than dodge, but there is only so much he could do with the factory parts.

I like it!  A splash of color (white) on the calipers would like nice and break up the all black tire & rim.

Unpractical and cool car but I'm done with vipers other than maintaining one I had to repair in which underground racing couldn't separate symptom from the underlying problem and instead tried to blackmail the owner when the car repeatedly overheated.

Sadly, a fellow employee here decided to place intercoolers where there is no airflow so he still has intake air temperature issues if he stays on it for very long.......but at least it doesn't blow head gaskets every two weeks.

At six five, I don't seem to fit well into any sporty dodge, chrysler, or mitsubishi cars but have no problems with room in porsches, toyotas, and nissans.

This.

Some people really like plain all-white cars, but I hope he does *something* to it.  Graphics, stripe, even flames, anything.  I hate to bag on people's rides and the car does look nice, but the all white does bring out basic flaws in the build quality.
