I have often seen post saying how it would be impossible for a submerged sub to be able to hit a fast moving carrier battle group. Considering the speed difference I understand the problems that could be encountered but also I see the possibilities.
1. A sub laying off the coast in a base defense role would have ample opportunity to get a firing solution, as often the battle groups steam back and forth.
2. Choke points, carrier battle groups often have no choice but navigate between land masses to reach targets, and excellent position for a sub to be waiting.
3. Surface speeds vs submerged speed. Subs will spend alot of time on surface during their patrols, submerging only to prepare for an attack.
4. Due to the slow speed of any ship in game, I would think extended way points into enemy areas would help with playability.
5. Adding another dimension of combat can help draw new players to the game who's interests lay in sub warfare.
Those are just some ideas. I am not saying its easy for high tech, but I do not believe it to be insurmountable. I also believe we will see a whole group of submariners pop up just as we have Fighter jocks, bomber pilots and GV'ers now. I guess I just want to point out its not impossible, and there are people who want to prowl the seas.
