I stand by my dweeb comment because of his stating he would simply ditch to deny a kill to the person who earned it by fighting him.
I saluted him after his victory and he PM'd me asking why I was there.........which should have been obvious since I attacked him.
I told him that dragging a 163 from safe landing is part of any 163 hunt and that's when he made the "ditch to deny kill" statement.
Sonic23 had the option of not posting a thread naming me but he chose otherwise and all here commenting should remember that fact.
Coombz and Dolby are simply haters who travel in tandem to wherever I post on these forums to stir things up.
In this case it was a spit VIII that had 50 minutes fuel remaining at 35,000 feet when the fight started.
I kept the fight fast knowing that blacking out would be the limiting factor in a turn fight which equals things out a bit until you run out off altitude in the lesser powered plane.
Not sure what fuel remaining was at lower altitudes because I was kind of busy fighting a 163.
Try the 163 with lots of flaps, full elevator trim (letter k held until trim full up), low fuel, and high power settings to drag you around and you will find it can fly an amazingly small turn circle.
I am unaware of the changes to the 163 and when they occurred so some clarification would help this discussion on 163 flight modeling.
I'm really surprised so many here don't know this or have never explored the flight model of the 163 as I have.
I've flown the 163 to 97,000 feet, 900mph, and flown 10 sectors in one ending in a safe landing so there is a lot more to this plane than most understand.
Try it out as described above and report back your findings instead of yelling "foul" without having done the research to properly arrive at that conclusion.
I don't expect the guys who fly LA7s around never getting above 10k feet to understand the amount of fun that can be had from these encounters.
