Comprehensive Hayabusa (Ki-43) lineup?
« on: April 22, 2013, 05:16:37 AM »
The Japanese (army) air force had the Navy A6M zero equivalent..... that would be the Ki-43.

Just like the Navy A6M major variants that spans entire war period:

A6M2 (early war)
A6M3 (mid war)
A6M5 (late war)

... the Ki-43 should be just as covered accordingly in this game:

Ki-43-I (early war)
- I think this variant is needed in _AvA_ scenarios because I think the mid war Mk II that will have right now will be too much against early war historical opponents
- Main opponents:  early P-39, early P-40, Buffalos, Hurricane, Chinese I-16's

Ki-43-II (mid war)
- Main opponents:  mid war P-40, P-38G, spitfire V

Ki-43-IIIa (late war)
- Main opponents:  late war P-38,  Spitfire VIII

I'm sure HTC making significant sub-variants of these Hayabusas won't cost them that much :pray
(besides Ki-43-I) There's little difference between Ki-43 (II and III) appearance wise, but each mark represents evolution in performance for early/mid/late wars.

i could see the addition of the 20mm for late war use (and scenarios).  It is nice that for scenarios certain options can be disabled.   :aok

The 20mms where only in a prototype. so we wont see them here. As to a Ki-43 with less power but also less mass... not sure that will help the early scenarios.

the guns might be changed between 2x7.7, 1x7.7 & 12.7 or 2 x12.7mm. All 3 gun packages where in use when the war started as far as I can tell. It was around 20mph slower and could not dive that well.

Hmm.  I thought the 20mm option was indeed a production model?  My bad.  Either way, I'm somewhat surprised HTC did not add in the other 2 gun options for EW scenarios.  I bet an EW engagement between Chinese I-16's and Japanese Oscar's with nothing but minimal guns would be fun.  Lots of "less than" 100 mph loops and turns to be had, I bet.   :)

Just went to AvA days ago...

The in-game Ki-43 mark II is too much against P-40C imo.

a Mark I would be a welcome addition for early war scenarios  :aok
