The "wreaking crew"
« on: May 04, 2013, 09:41:10 AM »
Checking the Frame 1 results:

AK's destroyed 42

VF-17 destroyed 27

G3-MF destroyed 19
Of special note they were flying SBD's

In total 88 AC were destroyed of 132 total for the ALLIED side.  Equaling 66% (2/3) of the total.  Or in plainer terms combined these 3 ALLIED squads killed 9 AXIS squads worth of AC!!

Amazing work guys <S>

Thanks Viper, Shouldn't that be the wrecking crew though?, or did you smell some of us that far away, was probably us, pirates aren't known for good hygeine  :lol.  VF-17 was in charge of the carrier defence, and we wanted a good larger squad of F4F's in charge of covering CV41, and the AK's fit the bill perfectly (obviously given the numbers posted :O).  We had three very experienced sizable squads guarding the carriers, which is always a good thing.  The 55th and USMC also did their part with some good kill numbers as well.  Working with G3-MF last night was a pleasure, and they did a great job with those SBD's. Good things happen when BigRat and Rodent are in the same area, "go team rodentia!" :lol.

Nicely done by AK's and Allied CiC.  :salute That's the standard strategy for anyone who's knows CV tactics. We were pretty much cannon fodder. A large number of SBD's can wreck havoc on a small defense force. (SBD collided with me, he lived, I lost a wing) I think only 1 or 2 of us were shot down by fighters. I was surprised to see Axis get 100 OD to Allies 75 but no CVs.  :huh

The Japanese attacks were spread out over more targets, it seems.

nice.

As a dedicated axis pilot, and as one of the few who care anymore about the Pacific theater, I have to say the results were not surprising.  Speaking for myself, I just endure the Pacific and let the limitations of FSO (lack of 'surprise' basically ruins every Japanese offensive as does the lack of night (which the IJN was renowned for since 1898 1st Sino-Japanese War) play out.  All fun, see ya next week.
