Bring back the 8K Shadow textures.
« on: May 07, 2013, 02:56:31 PM »
Please bring back the 8K Shadow textures! I used them all the time. Even with my older NVIDIA card, the 8K shadows (No smoothing) worked just fine. They were fast, crisp, and had rather smooth edges. The 4K Shadows have much more pronounced saw-tooth edges.  I’m not sure why the 8K shadows would be dropped, it was an option. Players didn’t have to select it.  I invested in an expensive video card for more eye candy.  I want LARGER shadow texture options, not less.

Since I have no teacher I know I'm still working on being ready...

you can run 8k shadows?  out of curiosity what are your computer specs?

reason I ask is because i dont see any jagged edges using 2048 or 4096.  would you post a picture of what you are talking about?

I get various weird shadow effects, including jaggies, even at 8192 (when it was available).  I thought this was just the software.  Perhaps it's a setting.  I don't think I need 8192 shadow textures, but I'd appreciate any insight into fixing this.
