I wish them well over there. And im sure you are right. They will start out with a realistic FM. Then the whines will start. "I cant even take off". The auto take off will be added. "Its to hard". In goes the ezmode button. I've seen it before.

OH! I left out. "of course we have to make the bombers ack stars. Or no one will fly them". And " of course a panzer commander could bring down a plane, with his Swiss army knife, look how much armor the had.

Auto take-off only gets them into the air, the rest is up to them.

I think the biggest threat, on a business level, to AH is TK. You only have to read this thread to see why. If it go,s. You can set an arena up any way you like. It will be hard to point a finger with that option.

Hell, there are guys over there, talking about building WW1 arenas.

The fact we all cannot deny is that Aces High is the best game going to date. Hitech could squash the WW2 online scuttlebut by adding the optional historical arena to keep us strat and fun with authenticity guys here.

I bet subscriber numbers would jusify it and definitly by this summer.

OK time for the soapbox.  The late war fantasy planes and furballs do have a place here. I even like it sometimes (although very rarely).  What would please the sceptics me included would be to rotate a historical map out weekly.

Example: week 1, Battle of Britain.
Map out England and France and log in either as a German or Brit and fly the correct plane set. I think you would see at least 50 members on each side slugging it out knocking off JU88s, spits vs 109s hurricane buff busting, you get the idea.

Other weeks could be ETO ops (my favorite) pacific battles etc.  The bottom line for me is if someone provides that type of fun for me they will get my money.  Hitech provides fun for me know and I think they are thinking ahead to something that resembles this at least i hope so anyway.  WW2 online may be a serious threat maybe not but competition will keep things fresh and challenging...

sorry for the long winded rant.

Easy guys. He's gone. we can go back to having fun now.

Wonder what he'll do when he realises that it aint going to be any different? lol.

I am tired of Aces High, so i canccleed my account. Tired of f4u's fighintg p51's,
tired of the game being like a "war" yet all u fly are airplanes. Tired of unfair
sided 3 way war, tired of knocking a base out and nobody will goon, tired of 1 shot
ack kills, tired of super fleet ack, tired of no ground war, supply system, or team
work. Tired of all their toejam that costs 360 dollars each year.

(ie:cod those webboards suck. not as bad as some but they sure do take the cake right now among the "contenders")

Hans you must ba about 10 if you really think that.

Excuse me?  I happen to have my options open, and I do think a niche game like AH with such a small subscriber base could be really hurt bad if even a fraction of it leaves.

If you want to insult me by assuming I'm a snot nose kid with no idea of what I am talking about, then this conversation is over, and the childlike behavior that ended it wasn't from me.

But, I still beleave my argument is true.  WW2 Online could really cut deep into AH.

...And where do you think all these 2-week free trial wonder pilots are all comming from?  The name Aces High is dropped daily on their forums as an example of what to expect (because Cornered Rat and Hitech Creations used to be one company that did WarBirds).

WW2OL is wonderful advertising for AH thru word of mouth, but when its open it could swing the other way.

Hans.

Granted, asking if you were 10 was a bit harsh. I should have asked if you'd actually thought much at all about what AH is and what WWW2O wants to be. If you can't see the obvious problems then it's because you're behaving like a 10 yr old who is infatuated with a new toy that he has not even been given yet.  Far be it from me to burst your fantasy bubble.

WWIIonine and WBIII aren't even out!!!  I think AH subscriber base is growing.  The grass is always greener, but you can fly right now in AH.

I think HTC has a whole different philosophy then these other online sims.  I believe it's a winning philosophy!!!  The numbers prove it!!
