Foam/Electric planes are fun, but not even close to scale models nowadays. I fly mostly electric planes myself, but fly at a field that host mostly large scale model pilots, and the difference in cost, performance, etc is huge.
I bet that helicopter in the video was worth 10x less than the Zero, and it sucks seeing accidents, but they happen all the time. The first weekend this year a scale P38 had a radio failure at my home field and was found about a 1/2 mile away in hundreds of pieces from a power on crash.
I've never understood fields that have the helicopter flying area in the same place as the runway/flyby route like the one in this video. It's just a recipe for disaster - calling "low pass" all you like doesn't mean that anyone will hear you, or obey you if they do. Such was the case here. At my field, I have to fly my 450/500 size helo's in a separate area that is well away from the runway and flightline of the fixed wing models, with a cement large round heli pad I can do flippidy do 3d flying at, and never have to worry about some ten thousand dollar scale model hitting me, and having some 60 year old crochety geezer come after me with his cane because of it.
I just picked up my first glider, a Radian Pro, and I got a good camera to put on it, so I hope to have some decent videos over the water at our cabin this weekend.
