The Front
« on: May 20, 2013, 09:52:38 PM »
My Idea is for a Variable Front, where GV's could spawn in any territory you control, not simply at a "spawn point"...
The Terrirory you control is based on the location of friendly and enemy bases around the map. The default line is equadistant from one base to the next, making the distance between the line to the friendly base the line to the enemy base the same. But as two or more tanks advance the line moves, allowing your tanks to spawn closer and closer to the enemy base (single tanks would not show). If enemy tanks cross the advanced line, a grey zone apears where neither side can spawn. Some may say that this system would cause GV usage to go down as the distance needed to drive would be much longer. But if they added gliders which could transport light tanks, jeeps, and artillary (when we get them) like the ME-321 and CG-4A. They could set up a forward GV base with one hanger and could be destroyed with 10 troops just like a regular base.

The idea for a variable front could also be used for PC ships and subs...

well, that would certainly curtail spawn camping...but finding a tank fight would be near impossible and sneaking into a base would be a lot easier.

It would be easier to find a fight as you would see the line moving...

i don't think so...look at the strategic point. you're taking what is now a 1/2 mile area and turning into 5-10 mile front where people get to pick their spawn points. the only way to find fight would be by pure chance or sit and wait at the base.

As the line moves the corners are the location of one tank, and once that one is destroyed it moves to the next closest tank, showing its location. The hidden ones are the ones within the spawn...

I think this would introduce "spawn flanking" where by a couple or a few tanks would spawn wide  to flank an enemy tank group to move them behind the front  or at least create a false "pocket".

The other option is a spawn road or spawn corridor which is simply a line (it does not have to be a straight line) joining the two bases along which tanks can spawn.

But as per the OP's idea they cannot spawn past the  "designated front line" set by  (in the OP's proposal) the 2nd  nearest enemy tank.

No you could spawn up to the most advanced tank...
Even though the front will be more spred out at least you will know where people are...unlike know you have to go check spawns to find a fight with a small chance of finding one...

I think it's worth a try, the system we have now has a lot of room for improvement. I think the whole idea of having GV fields needs to be examined.

what about turning vehicle bases into towns? something like an hq layout, maybe have the existing ammo bunkers, radar...troop barracks would be special buildings, make fuel dumps look like fuel dumps. have vehicles spawn in the middle of the town. there would have to be some way to disable the ability to spawn vehicles like there is now by dropping the hangars.

I suppose it could be contingent on the town status. White flag = no vehicle spawning.

that would work Arlo...  :aok

i wonder how many people would get pissed if vehicle hangars were removed from air bases and vehicles were forced to spawn in the towns instead...  :lol

Heck, I thought it was SOP to occupy the town and shoot troops.
