Ghi have you driven through a tornado warning yet?
Yep , warnings many times , been in Joplin,Mo 2 years ago during tornado , ;i seen shelf clouds also but only one on the ground ,years ago driving on I-80 around  North Plate ,Nebraska. I'm a trucker contractor for Celadon  for 12 years , we are pulling mostly NAFTA freight from Canada to Texas terminals Laredo/ Waxahacie  and back , along tornado alley, right now i'm on I-30 in AR. I'm trying to stay away from  warning zones, or park it; this high trailers are vulnerable and it took me 4 years to pay 133k$  for my truck. This days it's easy to avoid tornadoes with great mobile internet coverage , but as  Maddafinga mentioned above  tornadoes are "fascinating and scary" .

Here it's not a tornado warning until a pair of state certified eyes have confirmed it has touched the ground.  Or if they happen at night they can be declared the following day based on how it tore things up.
Iowa has Skywarn as well but I'm not sure it's a state certification. And does Iowa not issue tornado warnings at night?
