Rooks last stand.. battle for the Home Island
« on: January 26, 2001, 06:39:00 PM »
Sorry for the long delay.. too wiped out last night to put up a coherent AAR, but for any that still have an intrest, here's how it went down, and what occured and why, over the rooks home island Thurday night.

Nash hit it on the head. Numbers between countrys were about dead even at the start, with the ROOKS in control of most of the map. They were not significant 'underdogs' in numbers and certainly not in controlled territory at the outset. (certainly, this was not the case at the conclusion) Next time we do this we'll take screenshots of the roster with a time hack to verify.. but we went after the big dog on the block at that time despite any claims to the contrary..

Further, I myself happen to prefer pounding on knits, however; since our guest squad and star guest pilot (swager) were knits.. It was pre-determined the night before that the prime target would be rookland for PFT and the FAST ATTACK groups, but at THAT time (the day before) a reset was not the focus, teamwork was. I had no idea that I'd get the caliber of support I got, and was pleasntly surprised at the seamingly unamimous effort that sprang up after that first 'prep' b17 raid into rooklands HQ.. it was THEN we decided to go for a reset.

Minutes after the prep HQ raid; we held a squad leader meeting on RW and I sketched out an attack plan for the rook home island, detailed various squads to operational areas and tasks, posted the core FAST ATTACK mission for A35 and the port asked the other squads to post theirs and we launched into history the first 'Planned' MA Scenario night in Bish history... Objective, reset Rooks.

The rooks did not make it easy.. they fought hard, were better organized than I expected they would be considering they were blind as bats.... but our BARCAP between a33 and a35 functioned perfectly, and when the FAST ATTACK group came in we were able to destroy and capture the port and A35 without significant delay or losses to the FAST ATTACK teams. (PFT, 1st/AG & Airwolves)

Shortly afterwards the rook HQ regenned; and they started a counter attack towards a35 that effectively stopped our advance from there on a33. Rather than allowing a mele stalemate to develop; we immediately scrubbed that attack on a33 and ran 18 JABOS down the coast to the rooks HQ.. this was costly; many were lost in transit (I lost Swager here) and on the HQ itself, but speed was of the essence! We needed to regain the momentum lost at A33 and captialise on Cit's raids to the city; completed moments before.

With the city and HQ in ruins; flack factories destroyed and the majority of the Rook infrastuture crippled, the rooks were reeling under attacks from both the north and south on the home island and left scattered, blind, unable to muster in numbers at any location without significant opposition.

We then upped Lancs for A33; destroyed it's hangers; finshed the few remaing acks from the first attacks there and captured it without much fuss. The rook prescence on their home island was down to one medium field; one Vfield... and of course, their furball colony waaaaay out at A1. Smelling the blood in the water we closed in for the final kills, but first we offered terms.

Hang >> Rooks; surrender now, or suffer defeat in detail! We shall take your grog, but spare your sheep from the knits!

Rooks >> You may have our gerbils. No more.

Hang >> (checks vaseline supply)  ummm tempting; but no. Surrender! Your defeat is immenent!

Rooks >> Never! (expletive deleted)

System: V36 has been captured by the Bishops

Hang >> ..and now there are 2 fields left. Last Chance! Defeat is immenent! Surrender!

Rooks >> @#!@#$@!!@#!!

Hang >> MISSION UP! A37; lets GO!

We rolled a HUGE swarm of jabo's from a35; ran through knit and rook opposition to get there, (long hike) Hblairs picture above details our arrival... and the end came moments later. Thank you again fellow Bishes; for rallying to the 'cause', and carrying the fight to the finish. You did it.. it's your victory, you earned every one of those blasted perk points. <S!>

<S!> again Rooks.. heluva show. I know our turn is comming... but last night was yours. My only regeret is Cavey didn't get a chance to holler at us... that woulda made it perfect.

I've been a Rook my entire AH life and I have to say I was pretty angry at all the Rooks jumping ship because we were under heavy attack.

Excellent job to the Rooks who stayed and fought it out. Even with odds worse than 3:1.

I personally love these conditions and quickly scrambled into the air. Since our fuel was damaged, I couldn't take up my favorite ride (Yak) and had to settle for longer range a/c where the fuel hit was less of a problem.

I was in the air for what seemed an eternity only landing to re-fuel/re-arm. The Bishop/Knight onslaught was never ending. I'd get to about 12k, tangle with 10 or more cons, finish at the deck, re-arm, take off, get to about 12k and have another wave of enemies appear on the horizon.

Despite the large number of cons, I was only shot down one time. This was a strange coincidence. (Heh heh, I'm no stranger to being killed constantly and without prejustice) It seemed the angry mob was only interested in our airfield and rarely paid any attention to the planes shooting down their attack force.

In one instance I shot down a Lancaster sitting like a duck on his 6 without him even returning fire.

I had a blast! Sure my country was in shambles and we really didn't have much of a chance, but I had fun in all the chaos.

Felt a lot of comradery with my fellow countrymen.

I wonder how many Germans would have switched sides late in WWII if they could go to the map room and click on 'Change Country'.
