Indy 500 Flyover...
« on: May 26, 2013, 11:00:31 AM »
Anyone else see it?  Couldn't catch what all was in it.  B25 and I couldn't tell what else.  Would be interested if anyone else knew.

Well, not as special as I thought. But it was still cool, 4 Ponies in formation. I thought Fifi was going to make an appearance.

On a side note... I hate it when a singer jacks up the National Anthem to show off. She drug it out and screwed up the timing for everything. Sing the damn song the way it was written. :old:

Not mine - saw it on the news the other day after that hockey game. I can't even watch it all the way through.

A friend of mine is the photographer for the Purdue All-American Marching Band, who plays at the Indianapolis 500 every year.  He took a picture of the flyover:

Oh, I'll leave you with this one too:

LOL -it makes sense.  The "Gubment" allowed the implementation of Sequestration and the Services corresponded by cancelling all air shows and flyovers.  No Blue Angles or Thunderbirds.

Actually I think what happened at Indy is an improvement, but that's just my opinion.

That's a better shot than the national TV audience got because Robin Meade drug out the National Anthem trying to showcase her singing and screwed up the timing for everyone.
WTF goes thru people's heads when they do that? Learn to read music!

The song is not up to personal interpretation. It is not a showcase for your personal glory. Sing the G** D***ed song the way it was written!
Whitney Houston was the worst offender and it seems everyone wants to try and top that. It's incredibly disrespectful.

If I ever tried to jack up the National Anthem to show off when I was in the USCG Band they would have sent me to a Captain's Mast at the very least.

I may butcher English language, but I can read music. It wasn't written they way she performed it. Not even close.
If you can't honor the song, don't sing it.

Well . . IMHO WW2 aircraft flyovers are far better :)

As for the Anthem .. the only 'changed' version I ever enjoyed was done by Jimi Hendrix.
If it's sung correctly I still get goosebumps .. Jimi's did that also.

Think it was Sandy Patti.  And T6 seems to be the right answer from other searches
