how bout some new tanks....
« on: May 27, 2013, 01:34:49 PM »
for starters how about adding in the Cromwell tank and the Comet both saw plenty of service during wwII and a couple thousand built
and of course if you add brit medium tanks you need a heavy to go with it so how about the Churchill MK1 and MK7 and maybe a Lendlease version such as the MK3 with the 6PDR

P.S. if we get the crowell can we have the option of mounting the 3.7in Howitizer for taking down towns...pretty please HTC

the 88mm on a tiger with he rounds will do as much damage as a 3.7 in howitzer...and indirect fire is never as effective as direct fire. you can prove that to yourself by manning a gun on a cruiser. you actually have more fire control with the magnifed sights on the ship guns than reality.

never said it was an indirect fire weapon it was mounted on a medium tank just like the 105 howitizer that was placed on the M4A3's in the Pacific theater I call it a howitizer cause that what it was it was a 94mm HE firing gun used to take out fortifications

and to make HighTone happy throw in the Type 97  :D

I'm all for adding the Comet, Cromwell, Crusader tanks - I am a little against the Churchill tank - mainly because they were slow as hell - 15mph, historically we should have them - but honestly if its going to take 2 hours to drive to a spawn in one, i'd rather take a Panzer III.

Bunch of stuff we need to add. But if we want something UK, the Valentine looks to offer the most band for our buck. We could have an EW 2Lber armed version, and two 6lber armed versions. One would use APC, and the other would either use our would have some APDS.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

well butcher you don't have to drive one  :neener: I'd think they'd be more like base defense type tanks anyway alot of armor on the front and good guns

I'm thinking the Panzer III (w/ multiple gun options), StG III (w/ multiple gun options), Su-100, Crusader (w/ both 40mm and 57mm gun options), and maybe the BT-7 or other early war Soviet light tank.

The 6lb gun could take on a tiger from the side, however you have a fraction of the armor of the later churchill tanks which have a 75mm QF gun. the 6lb gun was far better for anti tank - where the 75mm QF had a better high explosive round.
It was an upgraded gun, however it traded anti tank role for high explosive (think about that). You get the 75mm with more armor or the 6lb gun with less armor.

in Aces high the churchill stands a chance, however its gun is pretty mediocre for being a heavy tank, big armor and little gun. Think of the KV-1 tank, Lots of armor and a horrible gun. Its a match for the Panzer IV, Sherman 76 and a T34-85 so it will fit in quite well.

However, if you look at the Firefly, it rarely gets used.

id like the 105mm for the sherman as an option for the main gun. panzerf has many main gun options and the only change would be barrel of the gun i think.

the earlier version sherman has its own niche as the best town killer with its rockets and rapidfire powerful HE round. be interesting to see how the 105mm version would stack up in town destruction.

later Churchill such as the MK7 had 152mm of frontal armor not sloped a whole lot and it had 2 guns that I know of that were mounted on it one being the 75mm HV Vickers which was better than the Panther's L70 long 75
and then theres the one you mention the QQF 75mm gun comparable to that of the M4A3(75) model

My theory on the Firefly being left in the hanger: because is a slow compared to other tanks, and the optics, gun, and armor offer little over a M4/76.  At longer ranges (2000+ yards), the Firefly holds a true advantage, but in AH those ranges are not as common as the under 1400 yards ranges.
