By way of contrast, this is what I can do with pencil and paper and erasers.

I'm not anywhere near there with digital yet.  But it's less messy and cumbersome in general, and easier to just start on a whim.  It's got limitations though, and less tactile feedback.  But it's easier to fix mistakes in digital.

G....T....F....O!  :rock That's freakin awesome!!!

Is this the one you were talking about in the game the last time we were on?

I think your doing a great job! Both look very good. yes even the eyes you don't like  :P I haven't had time to play around for the last few months... new job and all, but that is what I was working on and trying to get down. Pulling the basic shapes out with shadows and highlights like that and then going in to refine the edges. It looks like you have a really go grasp of that.

Keep it up! Post more as you do them!

its completely different then painting or using a pencil...madda, pencil is what I have done the most with also....once you realize that not only do you not need an eraser but you can shift and move what you have done....change the colors at will....use layer upon layer..use any medium....(without Clean up:-)..form it and sculpt it....then make it walk.......

this is my first animation clip....the model is lo poly

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nElmSMvObTc

here is a shot of the Hi poly model...... at the top of the screen shot it shows the vertice count...over 1million120thousand.... :O  anything higher then this it crashes my system :cry

Blender.....its free

That's really awesome man.  The high poly one looks outstanding.  Nice attention to the muscle underneath the skin and wrinkles as well.  Really cool!!

thanx a bunch...love the modeling and sculpting...just need to get a better system, once I upgrade I will be getting as much RAM as I need....hoping for a system with at least 16 gigs but would love 32..... :O

I am doing a dragon that I had to break into like 7 pieces just so I can sculpt it :rofl  4 legs.... head&neck..... body...and tail....all totaled I think there is around 5 million verts..... :O   I have to render each piece by itself and then piece it all together in GIMP creating 1 texture.... :rofl

what a PITA

Not great, but here's one I cranked out over the weekend.  I'm not terribly happy with it, but I'm not going to work on it any more either.

I am happy with the water, which was a squeak to do by the way, but I don't like the shark's tail, it looks off to me, and The lines on it aren't exactly what I wanted.  I didn't want entirely crisp, since he's backlit and under water, I just am not totally happy with how he looks.

I did a lot of work on that one in Gimp, by the way.

nice.....I think it looks great....I agree the tail is a bit whacky but from that angle it will look a bit strange....

take the white parts of the water and make it sea foam green....the dark parts a dark blue....
get rid of that extra fin on the right side....

add some sun rays.....I just selected of parts to get a nice flow for the sun rays.......

you should finish it :old:

it will look very nice finished.

That extra fin is actually supposed to be there.  It's got a mate, but you just can't see it because of the angle.

Now is there a way to change the colors at this point?  I'm trying to think of something, and I have an idea, but I'm not sure if it'll work.  I may just have to give that a shot to see how it works out for me.  Interesting idea.
