PT-17 flights have been confirmed, and tentatively scheduled for 6/22/13 to begin at  0900 local at 4OI (Waynesville Airport).  We will be attempting to raffle a 1/2 hour flight for free as well.  Provided we can get 10 confirmations for rides the price will go down to $90.00 per 1/2 hour ride.  Please express your intent to participate in this activity.

Awesome nef!  The airfield we will be flying out of has a designated Rc area, so I'll be bringing a couple of Rc planes and remotes.  We can dual up, and kill some time flying RC while we wait our turns for rides.  Looking like I'll be bringing the big trainer, and an albatros DVa, might bring an ultra micro mosquito depending on the wind.

For those of you who have never flown in a warbird, or done aerobatics!  I am attempting to fill a minimum of 10 slots so we can get a group rate on PT-17 rental for 1/2 hour rides.  I'm transitioning to taildraggers in this airplane here.  A 1/2 hour flight is $95.00.  I believe we have 5 slots booked already... provided wife-ak doesn't kill a couple of their hopes *cough* Jay *cough*  a great experience for all you warbird fanatics!  Plus an awesome chance for some great photos.  We will put on our own airshow.  The instructor I've requested is very experienced CFI, wit aerobatic credentials.  Questions can be directed to me via BBS, pm, or phone call/text @ 937-503-2420.

This particular airplane we will be flying was built in '42, and was used at Patterson field to train pilots.  It was then in the air force museums inventory, until traded for a Cessna L4 to red stewart.  And yes... it is the most fun I've ever had in  an airplane.  Open cockpit with a radial choking smoke is the only way to fly!

Actually this is the 7th Offical Dayton Gathering, first one was in 07 that was the first one I set up a hotel block at the hotel and we all went to air show and museum. Then Shawk opened his backyard up for us all to have a gathering after the air show there. I still have the pic somewhere. 07 was NOT an impromptu gathering, it was all set up by me. So if you want to be technical, yes, this is the 7th gathering.
