I don't think it'll do any good to know exactly what happened to her... The mystery is what made her story so inspirational. . . imo...

I'd just hate to hear that there was pilot error on her part confirmed through the wreckage... it would tarnish a great cultural icon.

It's the unknown that inspires, the answer may detract from her legend.

too late for that...I don't think it will make one bit of difference how people view her...if it was pilot error or not.

She didn't become famous and inspirational by crashing and never returning, she became what she was because she was the first female pilot in the entire world.

Too far in the past to impact today?  I guess I'm nostalgic.  :old:

Skorpx, you're correct. Her influence was at it's height during this attempt. Would more or less people be affected if she made it, I don't know...   I'm just saying sometimes we don't need to have all the answers.  I just think it would suck if this story was diminished because or our need for conclusion/resolution.

I wonder why so many think that... Amelia Earhart was but a toddler when the first women flew. Therese Peltier is the first woman to fly an airplane solo in 1908. Baroness Raymonde de Laroche became the first female licensed pilot in the world in 1910.

TIGHAR goes to tropical island beaches every year on the backs of donations and just throws on a skipping record when they run out of money.  I don't donate.

Contrary to popular belief Amelia wasn't a very good Pilot.  I saw an interview with other female Pilots of that era who used to fly in a racing circuit with her.

They liked her, but described her career as a Pilot lacking.  She crashed a lot!  She wasn't that skilled.  She had problems landing.  Her career was managed

by her husband who I understand pushed her into this.  It was all about fame and publicity........her pilot skills were lacking.   Greatly.

Are you trying to say she was a Danica Patrick?

Tighar has claimed to have had proof they've found her how many times in the last ten years?  They eat up a bunch more money and have yet to show anything for it.

I'll believe it when I see it.  Other then that, it's just another story to raise money and keep Ric Gillespe from having to work.

The sad thing is that they found Jimmy Hoffa way before her and failed to tell anyone since that's not what they were looking for.
