move strats closer to front
« on: June 06, 2013, 07:23:04 PM »
If strats are moved to within a grid or two of the original country fronts, they won't require such a huge time investment for bomber pilots and subsequent whines from 163 attacks.  Put GV spawns into the strats as well.  On large maps, the strats can be a little further back but not light years back like at present.  If the strats get overrun, they can be resupplied or better yet, fought over.

Add randomly shifting, high mph winds over 20k to make the fraidy cats have to drop low enough to where fighters can get at them.

Bomber pilots get 163-free targets much closer to home and fighter pilots don't have to wallow at 30k trying to kill them.

What about removing the super ack towers and adding some man able 88s?

Would that not add incentive to use a fighter to dive bomb it instead of a strategic bomber?

The super ack towers? :headscratch:

Player controlled 88's would be a complete waste of time against a 20k+ bomber  It wouldn't be effective at all, and hit at that distance and with the targets speed would nothing more than an educated guess, if even that.

Strats are meant to be hard to access, that's why they are so far back. If they are at the front line then everyone will just perk farm using them and there will be ridiculous down times because of it. If you don't like taking an hour to fly out there just to get killed by a 163 then don't go, nothing is stopping you.

Though I essentially agree ... the part " ... then don't go, nothing is stopping you." made me  :lol

Wallow? Caldera are you making poor hangar choices again? Not getting enough fighter kills?

At least you don't bother hiding what you really want, unlike some people.

Making incorrect assumptions again?  Wrong on both counts.

There is an entire realm of strategy and fun that many people are forgetting about concerning strats.  When the strategic target/industrial complex is near the front may I suggest taking over 4-5 heavy fighters and using two of them as ack tower killers near the targeted factory.  Once you clear out the 2-3 towers near the factory you want to hit it is open season.  Spread the wealth with the remaining jabos and enjoy!  BTW, it only takes a single bomb to the top of the tower to completely destroy ALL of the guns on that tower, that or a pair of rockets will do nicely as well.

There is a lot to AH other than gathering like 30 sheep and swarming a field "fo deh winz!".  It is sad that so many in AH are so focused on the revolving door stuff, no wonder people get bored with their experience.
