Aces High advertisements??
« on: June 06, 2013, 11:30:00 PM »
I was wondering if hi-tech has ever in put ads in magazines? I was trying to remember how I found aces high. It seems like I saw an ad in a national geographic magazine, but that would have been 5+  years ago. Y'all share how u found this game:)

I found it online, 6 years ago, on some website, that were listing massive online mutiplayer games, and me i was really intrested in airplanes, so i downloaded it, tried to fly in offline pracctce, it took me 4 days to learn how to fly...i was so stressed not knowing what key to use, or anything, after i was good, and knew how to fly, Didnt know how to land....i went to online i made a free trial account, and played online..and died..every single time, so i bombed random towns thinking i was smart..,but every time my trial account was up, I made a new one( you cant do it anymore) i was always the number guy, with random numbers as a name, after that, I stopped playing for 4 years, then came back, learned eveything,Used my real name but with numbers as a Game ID, Talin555,  and im alright at AH now,.....thats my story, haha
My name is Talin555 and if you get shot down by me, You should slap your self, Because i am not the best at  fighting.

I saw the commercial on the Military channel a couple dozen times late at night. Being a huge fan of the Ace Combat series, and a nut for WWII related things, I finally decided to try it out. Heck, it has a 2 week free trial. If I didn't like it I could just not pay for a subscription. Oh boy, did I like it though! I remember my first few sorties very well. My very very first sortie ever I grabbed a spit 16, launched on the runway, and instantly got vulched by an La-7.  :lol The next few sorties there were people flying around with orange icons (I was on channel 101 I think) and stupidly thought they were enemies. I spent the next few sorties killshooting myself on friendlies  :rofl .

Back in Warbirds 2.7 I heard about this new thing the ex warbirds devs were doing. It was called Aces High and it was supposed to be much more realistic.

You even had pilots walking and climbing to the planes on startup and when you started to fly you felt like flying lead weights instead of planes!

And so it was. Now that I look at AH - no walkups to the plane, no lead weights.. where's the realism?  :devil

This on the History Channel.  Only I remember it being slightly different.  I think the music was. :headscratch:

I was living in Harlech Castle at the time, zack was there for an interview... Court Jester.

The shenanigans began and I had ask him to leave.

When my neighbor kid went in the Army in 06 I took over his game. He was my daughters friend and they had in on my computer.  I don't even know what R-105 means he had it already along with some strange Metal Rock pass word I Don't understand. The best thing about Aces High for me was it was great therapy after my stroke. This game did more to help me recover some on my motor skills in my hand than the therapy I had to go to three days a week for over a year. Besides where else you going to have this much fun for $14.95 and not leave the house.

I came to Aces High back when we had to chisel it on the cave walls. The frame rates really sucked back then.

(Actually I think my first tour was Feb, 2003 at the end of the mass AW migration but I don't remember History Channel commercials until `07.)
