Im sure they get it wrong now and then (Im not sure where or really what bailey's list is), but even going by that list what percentage is that of those that were truly guilty? On top of that if "criminals" KNOW that if they get the death sentence it WILL be carried out in less than a week, how much would that help them think twice?

As it is now they have a good chance of getting away with most stuff, and if caught, they spend time at a "country club" called a prison for a few years and released early to make room for the next round of bozo's that come along.

I'll re post that list later I just want to double check some of the source material. But what it was was a list of folks on death row that (through modern investigative techniques and or admissions of other people) were found to be innocent. I'll also post a list of people that were executed, And  found to be innocent if needed

Regarding your percentage quote......So now it's ok to execute people because a percentage were "probably" guilty?

To answer the another part of your response regarding expedited executions being a deterrent. ......what if the courts were wrong?

hahahah...you obviously have never been to a Texas prison....(or any prison in general;-)........I haven't been to a Texas prison.... but I know I few that have....."country club" is a very bad description......

Nope I have "never been to prison" as I abide by the rules....yes even the ones I think are stupid. I have however been to many prisons mostly Connecticut and Mass state prisons for my job and have seen how the prisoners live there. Prison shouldn't be a place to "spend time" away from society as a punishment of your crime. It should be as close to h@ll as it can be. No TVs, no movies, no gyms/work out area. Sweat shops for cheap labor come to mind. Work a 12 hour day,  3 hours of training to learn a trade, or just social rules and the rest sleep. You don't get to come back a second time.

People who break the law should be taught a lesson and given ONE chance. No 3 strikes, 2 is more than enough, and then your done. Harsh? yup, but "criminals" have been getting off far too easy for far too long. Everyone is allowed to make a mistake, whether desperate, or stupid I'll give them that, but repeat offenders just don't seem to learn. Why should the rest of society have to put up with them?

Will it slow down crime? I think so because after awhile you'll have most of the "stupid" people who think they can get away with it buried nice and deep in some hole so they can't reproduce and spread their stupidity. Will it ever happen? Nope! Crime pays and makes a lot of people a lot of money.  Hey, it's just my opinion.

the difference is I personally don't follow this systems law's.....I follow one of much greater power.....

I agree with you INK, but there must be rules in a society where so many people interact with each other. If what YOU (meaning anyone, not specifically you INK) do effects me and mine then there must be rules. I don't have a problem with people doing what they want as long as it doesn't effect others. If I'm one of the ones caught up, it's my fate. Would I be happy about it? LOL! NO! With today's technology how many people will be wrongly convicted? Far less than before I'm sure. We haven't had "capitol punishment" for a long long time. It also hasn't been carried out to it's full extent either. Far to many people saying "awwww lets give him another chance" bull!

you should do some research into repeat offenders. back when there was "hard labor" and rules within the prisons, there was a much lower percentage of repeat offenders and young first time offenders than there is now. the current prison system is a revolving door system, that caters to the "rights of the prisoners". the fact that people don't actually fear prison anymore is the only reason the risk of imprisonment and the death penalty aren't deterrents.

there has always been mass murderers, rapists, child molesters, you name it.  it is not a thing that was invented in the past 20 years.  people who are bad have always been around from way back then, and they didnt fear prison.  the most famous criminals we have now are from more than 40 years ago.

back in the old days police had no clue how to investigate crimes. I like to think that now they're a bit more advanced so people like you talk about how in the old days people feared prison more than they do now.

but being someone who grew up in Jails and prison......I can assure you it is not all fun and games....not in anyway shape or form....

those are for guys who behave....if you dont..... you wont get to use those luxuries.....

if you guys could understand what it is like to have to be prepared to die at the slightest moment.....some may..... those who went to war....but that is very different...you have brothers and many people backing you....locked up you are alone...everyone is an enemy........every moment people are playing scams and trying to get you.....you have to be on guard at all times....for someone like me even though I grew up in jails...I wasn't a criminal....yes I did rob a homo to get put in prison.....but I had my own rules and morels so being locked up in a place were NO ONE had morels was very taxing for me...I truly lost my mind.....and only the love of my wife and kids brought me back.

very few will understand what it is like......and even less will understand what is like for someone like me who does know right from wrong.
