Yes we had a hartmann in our squad for a time.

One of the finest 109 sticks who played, too.

Some interesting replies...

This 'Hartmann' isn't too shabby either.  124 kills/1 death last month.  Ja...We'll take him along as ballast.

Other than running into him a few times in Scenarios and the odd FSO frame,...really didn't know 'Zoney' that well...other than here on the bbs,...where he always struck me as a level headed, mature, with a bit of sarcastic wit kind of guy...so when he asked me for a shot in the 11th...I did not hesitate...as has been my practice all these years...giving most a chance who want to make the commitment to the JG11 Experience.

Now I have been wrong before,...but I'm pretty sure after almost a month or so now...'Zoney' is an ace of the past...'Hartmann' has found his place here, in the 11th Jagdgeschwader.  It's not for everyone.

Zoney "New Hartmann" had a short stint with us in KN for FSO a couple years ago. Hell of a guy in the fight, and the O-club after the fight. We tried like hell to get him to stick around, but he was touring all the squads back then. Glad he found a good home with Jg 11.

With respect zoney do as you please with change in game ID and best of luck.

Personally though I've always thought it goes against the grain a little bit to name yourself in a game after real people in history for one reason or another.

imho more respectful to let their time in history and their name rest in peace.

Just my 2c

The KN Hartmann was previously Barkhorn, leader of JG53 Pic As squad. Barkhorn had to leave, so squad came apart. When he came back, he joined KN. And now gone again.

:salute Barkhorn, where ever you are.

'And that is how it came to be that German aces populated the arena.'

Sung to the tune of 'Favorite Things'

Bartels and Becker and Becker and Becker
Dahl, Dickfeld, Dinger and Josef "Pips" Priller
Friedrich Obleser and of course there's Heinz Lange
These are a few of my favorite names.

Hey Zoney:

I didn't know who Hartmann was the other night when you left me one cripple bomber to try and land...a wwi era gesture for sure and much appreciated.

I am thinking we met somewhere in cyber skies prior to AH...where Zoney was an excellent DR pilot, also a German plane :).

That was as nice a gesture the other night as I've seen in AH, reminded of wwi fights long ago.  Thank you!

Take care,

One

He did that for me as well one time, and we struck up a nice PM conversation.  Found out he is related to an author of books about space, of which I have a keen interest.  A nice guy in-game - nicer than me.
