or AV's for short. Pyro I know you mentioned the LVT(A)-2 and -4 models, but what about the LVT-2. The Amtrac. Carries just troops with a .50 cal for protection. Sort of a Amphib M3. I didn't think the A varients carried troops. Correct me if I am wrong.

This is gona make the Carrier Task Force a whole lot more important and a great place to operate from  .

I'd think you'd have to load an M-3 and transport it via the landing craft if you want to move troops (talk about slow   )

The 2 will carry troops and the 4 sports a 75mm howitzer.  The (A)2 were just armored versions of the LVT2.  Other LVT2's were modified later for with the armor but no change in designation was made.  So what we could get could be the LVT2 or LVT(A)2 depending on how you look at it.  Either way, I think it's desirable to have something armored for that role.

Tell me, what do you guys think will be the first target of any assault against a fleet?

Sink the troop ships!

Or will it be like PT's, that is as long as the fleet is partially in presence you can spawn a LV?

Can you guys not see the massive D-Day landings taking place? 75mm-armed, PT protected landing craft washing ashore ready to level a field?

I can't wait to see this.
I'm sure there will be some dweeby aspect of it that we will whine about, but it should be pretty entertaining.

PS Eagler and Kieren, these aren't ships, these are amphibious armored vehicles.

That's great news, because now I can scrap the part of my terrain where I was able to get any vehicle to spawn on land from the carrier.

I was just beginning to figure out what's the closest distance to an enemy field that you can spawn without being declared captured, so then I could show shoreline landing areas.

Thanks PYRO for the correction, I thought the LVT(A)-2 carried a 37mm and a MaDuce only. Didn't know if It had troop capacity.

Oh yea baby..... . I can see combined ops on a grand scale. Cruiser pounding the beach and local airfield. Enemy panzers and M16's lobbing shells at the incoming PT's and LVT's with a massive furball overhead to decide air superiority. This will make the CV task force a focal point as it can take enemy held land without waiting for a C47 or a GV to arrive. LVT's will be slow and will be prime targets for the enemy aircraft but with a escorting PT's and aircraft overhead it should be quite a fight. I can see snapshots devoted to D-Day / PTO type events on the horizon. I'll have to upgrade my video card just to deal with all the ordnance that will be in the air  .

You're thinking of the LVT(A)1.  That's the one that had the 37mm turret.

Oh, I know, Funked. But they have to be carried to the island by something, and I assume that will be some type of troops ship, right? That was my real question; will they spawn from a troop ship or will they spawn from the task force itself?

I would expect them to carry troops and spawn from the CV task force like PT boats. They are extremely slow in the water (5 knots) so they will need escort and air cover. LVT's were not big enough to carry tanks or half tracks. They could carry a jeep though. Payload specs I saw were around 1 ton and that was in calm seas. These were normaly used to compliment higgin's boats. I think your thinking of LCM's which could carry tanks, troops and artillery. LCM's were deployed after a beach head was established and secure.
