I started AH about 6 months ago with a Cyborg 2.1 via a registration package from HighTech. What a piece of crap . . being inexperienced, I worked that stick more than a month after I should've hurled it. I didn't know anything about this when I started, and honestly, neither tech support here nor any trainer was of any assistance. Can't use expletives here. Took a few months off, replaced it with same stick, now from MadCat, who (IMO) lowered quality of the throttle. This one began failing after only a week, and though I knew from experience how to to work around some of these problems, more importantly, I knew what I was experiencing.
A fellow who started when I did, is still using his Logitech 3D, go figure. 80% don't seem have problems with low-end products like this. For the 20% . . it's just throwing your money away.
I bought the Thrustmaster T-16000m. Started failing after a couple of weeks. Worked the problem until I wanted to hurl it; replacement to be here Monday. Hate the buttons on it, all of them, bought a numpad for a work-around, i.e., 1 2 & 3 are back views rather than trying to use the hat, etc. But that all said, the quality of the stick itself is night and day compared to the Saitek (or MadCat) I had.
Just typing for the next novice who comes along looking for answers : upgrade to a better stick.
