Interesting one! Compared to the T-Flight Hotas X in the same price category it seems to have some kind of "Vibration" effect but isn't splittable. Does the vibration act like ForceFeedback, or is it just an annoying shaker? In any case, looks like a nice compact controller for both hands.

I came across this stick recently as well, but I have noticed that all the really recent product reviews mention it does not work on modern windows versions (it crashes the games).

I started AH about 6 months ago with a Cyborg 2.1 via a registration package from HighTech.  What a piece of crap . . being inexperienced, I worked that stick more than a month after I should've hurled it.  I didn't know anything about this when I started, and honestly, neither tech support here nor any trainer was of any assistance.  Can't use expletives here.  Took a few months off, replaced it with same stick, now from MadCat, who (IMO) lowered quality of the throttle.  This one began failing after only a week, and though I knew from experience how to to work around some of these problems, more importantly, I knew what I was experiencing.

A fellow who started when I did, is still using his Logitech 3D, go figure.  80% don't seem have problems with low-end products like this.  For the 20% . . it's just throwing your money away.

I bought the Thrustmaster T-16000m.  Started failing after a couple of weeks.  Worked the problem until I wanted to hurl it; replacement to be here Monday.  Hate the buttons on it, all of them, bought a numpad for a work-around, i.e., 1 2 & 3 are back views rather than trying to use the hat, etc.  But that all said, the quality of the stick itself is night and day compared to the Saitek (or MadCat) I had.

Just typing for the next novice who comes along looking for answers : upgrade to a better stick.

CH look poo but are in fact the best :old:

Sidewinders bought second hand usually get good reviews :old:

I am going to try my Logitec force feed back on ROF, still in box from 4 years ago, I convince myself it will improve with age, it never does though :)

I wouldn't blame the cheap sticks alone, there must be something in the way people use them.

During these eleven and a half years I've had four sticks, all way below €50. My first one was a Logitech Wingman included with a gameport to USB adapter. It worked fine until the centering spring slipped off after cleaning and lubricating it. Didn't want to redismantle it, so I bought a Logitech 3D Extreme. I didn't notice any failure, but during a con a friend borrowed it and said it was spiking. Don't know whether it was for real or only the stick acting totally differently than his trusty old CH, but it gave me a good excuse to get a new one, a Thrustmaster TopGun Afterburner II. I'm still using the throttle of it, the stick also working as new, but during another con I tested and fell for the TM T16000m which I've been using since then. I can't say if the sticks had failed on me if I had used the twisty. I've been using some kind of pedals almost from the start, first the ones of a steering wheel system, lately "real" flying peds from Saitek (the cheaper ones, of course :D)

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

See, the problem is that I need a one handed twisty with two throttles, and only Saitek make something of that calibre, it happens to be the Cyborg fly 5, which while a great design visually, grip and ergonomic wise; desintigrates like rice paper after a few weeks. The core technical design aspects of it are inherently flawed.

I was hoping to come across some alternative.

That was good enough for long term casual use.

I have a G940 that sits in the corner, unused.. Works perfect..
Almost virginal..

While I use an X3d/pro regularly.. Even have a brand new spare, :rofl

I consistently get a year+ out of mine, after making an arm rest
that takes much of the weight off the center joint..

I do not know the difference of the shaker or force feedback, but you can configure it in AH force feedback menu to represent buffet, guns, damage etc. There is a small motor inside the joystick with an unbalanced weight. I haven`t used those effects for a long time.

I had a force feed back back in aw.  going thru ack was awesome as the stick would shake making it a challenge to aim while in bombsite.  does it do the same thing in ah?

A true force feedback will act like the real thing, like resisting your leveling attempts in a dive in a 109. It'll counteract everything you do, even more powerfully in a damaged plane or otherwise challenging aerodynamic situation. A shaker/rumbler is just a regular stick with spring centering having a built in programmable on/off vibrator.

I currently run a menagarie of products..

I use a Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS stick.. with pot mods .. It works flawlessly and no calibration needed since I bought it..

Saitek X65f Throttle for the numerous button configuration

Saitek Pro flight pedals for the comfort..

I just wish there was a way to improve the pilot in this game.. because even with all my toys ..I still suck..

You don't suck you play for fun :)

I have a stupid amount of joysticks :joystick:

My force feedback plays well in ROF but not in AH :old:

CH sticks are very good quality.
