This reminds me of one of my air shows a few years back...
At a model air show for war birds, it was a hot day and some of the crowd was getting bored (you can only make jets buzz the crowd so many times before it get old). Throughout the day recreational aircraft had been flying by the field they were specifically told to stay away which clearly they ignored. As the day went on and the A/C kept cruising by, I started talking to some of the guys in the pits.
"Man, we should be enforcing a no fly zone. Just look at all this fire power we have!"
They all laughed and joked about it, they all thought I was. Finally I had had enough, one of the planes came by the field and I turned my P-51 in on him and gave chase. This was a huge hit with the crowd and I was quickly joined my a few other pilots. The pilot decided he had enough and turned away. This caused the crowd to erupt with cheer and laughter.
We ended up doing this to four other planes before they brought out the big guns. A plane flew by that none of ours could keep up with. When we saw the iron cross on the side of his plane made out of duct tape, we panicked and had the AA (one of the guys had a gas gun that looked like a 20mm oerlikon) open up on him but he was too fast and none of our rounds hit. All of a sudden a second plane showed up, then a third. Then we heard the air raid siren (the guy with the oerlikon had one of those too). Planes were scrambling to get into the air. The only ones that were able to keep pace were the jets. The only thing that kept more pilots from taking off was the fact that we ran out of radio frequencies to use.
By far the most fun I've ever had at any kind of air show.
