Well Done Axis Forces Crimean Catastrophe Frame 2

HighTone is another thread pointed out that the Allies have a tough fight this month flying for the Russians; and I agree.  But to be frank, I think you guys murdered them this frame.  Based on what I saw during the frame and a brief look at the logs, it appears you did quite well.  I hope to the point of putting a knot in Nef’s stomach when he has to post the results. 

I don't know what everyone did but want to mention a few:

Well Done to LCA and 416 'LYNX' Squadron RCAF for protecting and saving 14 or the 16 destroyers resulting in an Axis Victory in that area and the rescuing of thousands of lives.

Checking the status of the V86 target at the end of the frame showed it completely disabled.  Well Done 364th C-HAWKS FG, Army of Muppets, and Nightmsares VMF-101 of Attack 1 for your accomplishment there.

JG54, Kommando Nowotny, and FREEBIRDS or Attack 2 to the City (6, 12) had bombs to spare and where looking for other targets to hit.  This tells me there was good coordination between the bombers not to waist bombs hitting the same buildings, and that the escorts did a good job getting the bombers through and giving them a chance to calibrate their bombsights without being harassed by defensive fighters.

And finally Hopper of III/JG11.  Since aircraft points would only get awarded for successful landings, ditches, or bails, I was concerned about not having enough planes and having those planes fly over enemy territory late in the frame where they could not earn any points if things turned bad.  Therefore, I was depending on Hopper flying the Ace Mission to do what he usually does; get a lot of kills and make up for any aircraft loses over enemy territory.  Well my hope was not disappointed and he did better then I could have asked.  Well Done Hopper on landing your six kills, and III/JG11 for protecting him and for any kills you let him steal.

I am sure there are others deserving mention but my view of the battle was limited.  I believe most of the bombers make it home and our defensive forces held.

Despite the scores, I hope everyone, Allied as well as Axis, had a fun Frame 2 and is ready to move on to Frame 3.  I will see everyone there.

Nice AAR/post.

Thank you MachNix for the kind words and confidence in the 11th.  I found the assignment to defend the city in 3-12-4 challenging at first glance and mulled over my approach to defending it all week long, right up until we were wheels in the well last night.  There was 3 excellent approach slots for the allies as well as a duel vbase radar shield/warning directly front of target.

Finally, I put USMC71st. and The AirRaiders in close to the city to guard for NOE strikers and positioned the 11th in the greater surrounding airspace at altitude.  The allies threw P39's at us first off, and the low altitude defenders did a good job defeating them.  There was just not enough single engine strikers to convince me that an attack at altitude was not imminent.

And so we were in not too bad a position when the high A-20's did arrive.  Not well enough to stop them from raining destruction down on the target, but well enough to insure their destruction post drop.

After rearm...more Red Airforce machines were destroyed...wherever we could find them, including a supplemental attack on the City target.

After Cobia ended my night, I joined Hopper as an extra set of eyes.  I swear the guy gives me ulcers.  He wades in until he is neck deep, and just as you are sure he is about to drown...suddenly he's the only one on dry ground.  Just an amazing fighting man.

I turned off this attack to help my CO in Bostons, If I would have known it was the axis ace, I would have pressed him much harder .  Great job Hopper , I hope I at least gave you a pucker moment .  JG11 did a great job of eliminating our Bostons as I think only one made it back it and it was in bad shape, I think 4 or 5 of our A20's made it back.  We were planning a second strike with the A20's but most of them were pretty shot up trying to defend the Bostons.

That was a pucker moment and I had a couple more.     I think the 1 boston that made it home I chased 2 sectors before I turned around for gas.

Ha! I think it was an A20 and it was me on the deck running for dear life with BigRat in the rear guns. We had a plane chase us for a long time out of A146 and turns out it was a 190. He turned away soon after he got into icon range.

Yea right when i got into icon range I started to do fuel calcs.  I had to drop RPMS and throttle and was on the rearm pad with 2 gallons left!
