A wishlist forum where other's can't reply....

I don't remember family members being allowed to add amendments to Christmas wishes in the old stories.

The other solution, and a pretty realistic one as communication between your random tank/AA unit and random fighter was nil, would be for friendly aircraft to not be able to see the icons of their friendly GVs until they were 600 yards out for a stationary GV or 1200 yards out for a moving GV, just like it is for enemies.

Rationalization. It's a rare and wondrous thing when a noob requests something original and
actually beneficial to the game.  You'll have a long wait on the 'fading' thing. You're more likely
to develop clues and become an 'old timer' yourself. That is if you are both capable and lucky. :D

Internal and external aircraft/gv sounds. Makes for differentiation in close flight and on the runway.
