I don't agree with this at all, some people are much too intelligent for the social norms and need to learn to moderate themselves instead of being forcefully moderated. That is why they have to see themselves as they truly are, and only they can do it.

This is why mercy and forgiveness are the only way to true peace, a forced peace is violence in the guise of peace.
My boys were fighting over the xbox controllers tonight. I tried the mercy and forgiveness thing on them with no results. After threatening to put my boot in their arses calmness was restored in short order. Forced peace....yes. But peace nonetheless. :devil

SD, look man, this thread sux.  I don't know the history, don't need to - Fester isn't that bad.  Downer'ed the whole game though.  Could think about that stuff all day, every time a bomber plane drops an 'in game bomb' on an 'in game town building' for example - war sux.  Those kids tho, some of us don't have much, but we have more than we need.  You might put an official credited 'college fund sponsor link' thing that we can paypal on your signature or something... something to tithe every so often.

If I may ask, which plane did she fly, and which paint? Hers, not yours! heh.

I'll agree with Midway for this part...  :cry

:lol ah man you have no idea. When it comes to raising kids, I'm all ears. I have one kid that never gets into trouble, gets along with everybody but has poor grades and thinks he's a surfer. My other son is straight out of Duck Dynasty and would fight a buzzsaw if it looked at him funny, but carries straight A's in school. I can't figure them out man.  :huh

The boot in the butt thing up there was just a joke. The spanking stage is way gone. Now I get to take things away from them like phones, xboxs, computer time and recently even cars!  :x

Well, we can save it for another time, this is a pretty serious convo going on here (not that parenting isn't, just not in context).

SD - well put.
A measured response to one of the most vitriolic posts from one of the most sociopathic minds ever to touch a keyboard.
For you, only moral strength exudes from your post.
As for the subject player pity, loathing, revulsion and moreover heartfelt thanks that he is not in the same continent let alone the same country.
Fester, apparently you lost your wife and your job because of the game and your addiction to it. Wasn't it apparent then something was wrong?
Your best course of action would be to turn off your computer...........forever.

SD - the Internet is a festering ground for sadistic and sociopathic behaviour and keyboard generals.  So try not to let them get to you.

And you also know that karma is a beezach...and it's payback for horrible behaviour will soon demand it's payment.  Keep that in mind knowing that certain festering morons will have to answer to that behaviour sooner or later. They can't escape it.

It is truly amazing; perhaps heart wrenchingly depressing rather, just how small and petty so many people are capable of becoming when they are able to avoid the consequences of social norms, especially of that simple civil construct we have generally labeled courtesy. The selfishness that most civil societies have deemed as unacceptable behavior is unleashed with such ease, especially by those sadists who are unable to feel good about themselves through normal behavior and insist upon bullying at every opportunity they can safely do so without consequence in order to have an enjoyable time. If you are called out by the social norm and you fail to find any shame in your behavior, you need help. If you are unable to determine if you should be seeking help, go to a local gathering of people and repeat your previous encounter with them. If nothing of consequence happens, by all means carry on. I doubt many in this and previous, threads would find it completely free of consequence. Our remonstrations only fall upon deaf ears because it lacks any ability to enforce social norms in this environment. A shame. A crying shame. I know I have been ashamed of my online unaltered, online behavior before, and I try to respect the reason why and maintain civility. This, the forums, and ch 200 in game, are consistently brought to light as the worst parts of this game, at least it is to me and others whose opinions I have read or heard and respect in the slightest. Why bother coming? Why not? Given the rules I have the reasonable expectation to a civil forum, you do not have the reasonable expectation of the reverse. It is nice to see when people stand up to the bullies. It is a shame our stamina is not up to the level of the troll and griefer though, they have a hardwired itch to scratch and are built to go the distance and then some. Shame it works out that way, but good on those standing up for what is right, and shame on those who lack the ability to understand why, or simply accept or admit, they may be in the wrong. A pity we all don't have the drive to shout you down more than you have the ability to shout everyone else down. Online, that is. To do so usually requires way more effort for the lack of any form of enjoyment in such juvenile pursuits. Such small, so very small, human beings you are.

Can I safely sum this up to mean that sometimes people say things online that they normally wouldn't because the effect would be an arse-kicking?

I didn't read anything about force, perhaps I read it too quickly. I was merely agreeing with the sentiment that the internet seems to allow or even encourage the hideous aspects of people's personality, if they have them, to come to the fore, with little else to keep them in check but yourself.

If he edited his post because he knew it was in bad form he should have just apologize then maybe this attack on him would have been avoided.
