Anyone here familiar with CAD?

Hey guys,
I am working to help with a bid from an RFP for a Virtualized CAD Workstation environment on VMware Horizon (view).  I am on the architectural side of things, not sales, so having to prove performance capability is a bit new to me.  One of the requirements is the ability to show a benchmark of the 3D graphics performance on the virtual Desktop.  While I know our performance will be well above their requirements, I have to prove it!  So, with that said, I need some kind of software to provide a benchmark.  Most 3D graphics benchmarking tools are geared towards gaming, which will not be acceptable to our customer.  Anyone know of anything I can use?  Ideally, having the ability to input, or know,  the number of quad faces, along with screen rez, and getting an FPS result...

have you seen the white paper on vmware horizon view 5.2 and hardware accelerated 3d graphics?

i think 3d mark or whatever the name of the parent company is may have a solution for you...expensive though.

yes, I have that whitepaper, but our customer is VERY picky, and wants us to prove capability on the hardware we are specifyiing, a white paper, even from the OEM vendor, isn't sufficient for them.  They are a large corporate global company, and as we all know, they are pretty much stuck in their ways and demands of a vendor.

Price isnt a huge issue, the hardware we are speccing for the solution will run approximately $590,000, without any software licensing!  

3dmark does have software, but im unable to find any information to specify how thier tests are performed.  I have emailed them to see if the can provide details from thier professional side..

 I have been using CorelDraw for my r/c and laser stuff, but I have been wanting to expand into the 3d aspect of things.

 An option for you to check out is TurboCad, and Autodesk123d. They may or may not be suitable for your needs, but I think
both have a free evaluation trial available.

he's prepping for an rfp which would have specifications predetermined. he's looking for a way to benchmark 3d performance of a cad program, not looking for an alternative cad program.

Thanks man   Yea I actually use AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor for my R/C aircraft designs as well, but as he said, I wasnt looking for a CAD program, but a benchmarking utility..

And on that note, i think i finally found a professional grade benchmarking utility not aimed at games, for any that might be interested, or have a need for such things..
